Christ The King Lutheran Church - Surrey BC Canada

Christ The King Lutheran Church - Surrey BC Canada We are a diverse and welcoming community. We are a diverse community nestled in the heart of Whalley, Surrey, B.C.

Christ the King Lutheran Church in Surrey has been ministering to the Christian community of Whalley, Surrey, British Columbia, for over 62 years and counting. As a community we embrace the gospel of Grace, to extend love to one another in word and service, and to proclaim the power of God’s gracious and faithful work that is constantly active in our midst. To be co-workers in and with the Spirit

, graciously sharing the gifts that we have been freely given for the good of our community. To journey alongside the brokenhearted and hurting, trusting in the healing love of Jesus to make things right where there has been pain and disappointment. And to trust that above all, God’s love and grace are sufficient in all that we do, and in all that we are.

Dear friends,

There have been recent changes with the government guidelines and restrictions for worshipping communities.
However, as we have been a particularly cautious community, there will be no shifts in our current protocols of mask-wearing, sanitization, social distancing, no food or drink, and no restrictions for vaccine passports required.
We will continue with hybrid in-person/online worship for our church services, abiding by the 50% capacity restriction required by the government.

As such, please keep in mind:
-Vaccination passports are not mandated to attend worship services at CTK. However council strongly recommends vaccination for the safety of all.

-Masks are mandated for entry into the church building, and to attend worship services. Our leaders continue to wear masks for the safety of each other and the community.
It is recommended that everyone remains socially distanced from those in other households, and continues with heightened sanitizing practices.

-We are now only permitted 50% worship attendance in the sanctuary. This means up to 65 people (including the leaders) can fill the sanctuary.
We also have the Fellowship Hall with the service projected that can make room for any extra numbers as needed (up to 25 people at 50% capacity).
As of now, we have only had a maximum of 25 people each worshipping Sunday, and registration is not required for regular Sunday worship attendance.

However, we will ask people to register in advance for the special Christmas Day Service (Dec 25, 10am). (Please let Nicolas know: [email protected])

Please see the ZOOM link below for the upcoming Dec 12 10am hybrid in-person/online worship service.
The word document including the prayers, scriptures, and hymns, is also attached.

Today’s service reminds us of God’s ability to reach us when we feel as though there are barriers between us and God.
Today we learn that faith gives us the courage to trust that nothing can get between us and God, not illness, not death, not even our time spent in the pits of despair.
And when we face our low moments in life, we can trust that God hears our cries, and will restore our well being and bring us to new life.

In times when we are in storms, and we wonder where our Saviour is, we are assured that Jesus is with us throughout the storms of life.
Jesus is there when we call him, and when it is time—he will calm those storms inside of us and around us that listen to his word.
May we have the grace to listen to the word Jesus has for us this day, and trust that God’s power is always greater than everything that we fear. May we have the grace to be still and know Christ's peace for us.

Sometimes, we are called to wait for the hand of God to be at work with us, nurturing and bringing to life what is to be called from the earth. Although we are called to do our part, ultimately it is God’s gracious hand that brings fruit in the kingdom, not our own. We cannot force our own timing upon God for the timing of God’s ways.

A service to remind the church to listen to the voices in our midst. As we lift up those who have suffered and endured painful experiences, we pray to discern God's loving will, and to receive the courage needed to enact it.
