On Sunday, October 4th, we sent Pastor Chris and Sherri out with our blessing as Pastor Chris stepped into his new role as President of the ACOP of Canada. They’ve moved out of the Lower Mainland, but they haven’t moved out of our prayers.

Many of you have asked how to stay connected. Sign up for a recurring email with personal updates from Chris and Sherri, plus specific ways to pray for them as they settle into their new home and this new season of ministry. The signup link is below; let’s keep standing with them.

Today is the final day of the Legacy Through Leaders campaign.

Thank you to everyone who has given, pledged, and prayed. Together we have come closer than ever to our $250,000 goal: an endowment that will keep training and sending out leaders from Sonrise for generations to come.

The matching gift is still open, so every dollar given today is matched dollar for dollar. If you have been meaning to give, now is the time. If you already have, thank you, and consider passing this along to someone who would want to be part of it. Let's finish strong together. Give at sonrise.ca/legacy.

The Holy Spirit is not a force, a feeling, or an atmosphere. He is God, present with us, and He wants to be known.

Life in the Spirit is an eight-week series on who the Holy Spirit is and what it looks like to actually live with Him. Over eight weeks we walk through knowing Him, receiving His work, being empowered by Him, staying full, learning to hear His leading, discovering what He has given us to contribute, stepping into the supernatural, and living sent.

Every week comes back to the same question: what difference does this make? Not just in a Sunday service, but in your car, at your desk, in the middle of a hard conversation. The goal is not that you would know more about the Holy Spirit. It is that you would know Him, rely on Him, recognize His leading, and carry His presence and power everywhere you go.

We wanted to share an update about the two trees on our Surrey property.

These trees have been part of the Sonrise landscape since our building was constructed. Over the years they have stood through countless Sundays, ministry events, kids camps, BBQs, community gatherings, and ordinary moments in between. We know they hold real memories for many of you, and we recognize that seeing them come down may be difficult.

Both trees were damaged during a significant storm last November. Afterward we had arborists assess their condition. Their assessment identified disease in both trees and recommended removal for safety reasons. We have since received the necessary permit from the City of Surrey to proceed.

While it is hard to say goodbye to them, we are looking at ways to give the space new purpose. One idea we are exploring is repurposing the stumps into tables for community gatherings and outdoor events.

If you would like to be part of that project, or you have an idea of your own for the stumps, please speak with Pastor Jonathan or email him at [email protected].

We are grateful for the years these trees have been part of Sonrise, and we look forward to seeing how this space can keep serving our community.
