NeighbourLink is a non-profit, volunteer based society in Summerland servicing local residents and especially our senior citizens. We offer transportation, a Christmas package program, monthly soup socials and more. However, we can't do it alone! We are in need of more volunteers. Please contact us at 250-404-4673 or [email protected] to learn more! All are welcome to apply

Join us and other Summerland churches this morning for our Annual Action Fest Weekend Church in the Park! Everything gets started at 10 am at Memorial Park in downtown Summerland. Bring a lawn chair and a good hat or sun covering as the sun is pretty strong already. Or come early to secure a seat in the shade!

Join us this Good Friday morning at 10 am for a time of solemn reflection on the suffering and death of Jesus.

If you are able to provide a soup for the next NeighbourLink Summerland soup social on April 17th, please reach out to them to let them know! These are wonderful events put on for our community that bring light, laughter, and good food into people's lives!

Our next monthly Soup Social is scheduled for Thursday, April 17th.

Unfortunately, the group we approached to provide the soups is not available.

Do we have any available and willing volunteers out there who would donate a pot of soup towards our lunch next week?

If you are able to drop off the pre-warmed soup at the Summerland Community Centre between 11 and 11:30 am Thursday morning, that would be great, but we can also pick up the soup if you can't attend the lunch (and we will bring your slow cooker back to you, clean even!)

If you can help us, please contact Brandi ASAP at:
[email protected] (email is preferred, if possible, as we will see your message right away)
or

Thank you for helping us to keep this important social and feeding program running! 🙏

Merry Christmas from all of us at Summerland Alliance Church!

As is our regular custom, we do not have a Christmas Eve service tonight. We celebrated our Christmas together this past Sunday with our Children's Church Christmas Concert and a potluck.

There are many local churches which are offering a host of opportunities for you to gather and worship. We hope one of those options will help if you are looking for a chance to gather with other believers tonight.

Summerland Baptist: Family-friendly; candles, songs, community: 4 and 6 pm

Lakeside Calvary Chapel: Worship and sermon: 5 pm: 9710 Brown Street, Summerland

Holy Child Catholic: Mass at 6 pm; Christmas Day Mass at 9 am

Summerland United Church: The Inn: Housing the Holy: 7 pm: At St. Stephen’s Anglican

Penticton Alliance: A Nativity Mystery Tour: A Christmas Play: 6 pm

Bethel Church Penticton: 3:30 and 5:15 pm

Trinity Church Kelowna: Music, worship, story-telling, laughs: 1:30 and 4 pm: $8 ticket cost for adults; kids 12 and under are free

Is this an opportunity that could fit your schedule and how you like to serve or help others? NeighbourLink is an excellent organization in our community that does great work for Summerland people.

NeighbourLink is faced with a very good problem - we are becoming more known in the area and having more agencies refer clients to us, most especially for rides to their medical-related appointments. This is amazing, as we have the opportunity to help even more people in Summerland 🥳

However, the increased client requests are putting more demands on our current volunteer drivers.

We are in need of more volunteer drivers to support these increased requests, and to ensure our current volunteers don't burn out!

There are no obligations to take a certain amount of rides - our volunteers accept the rides that fit into their existing schedules. Drive as much or as little as you're comfortable with.

Most appointments are within Summerland and Penticton, but we also have some requests to go to specialist appointments in Kelowna. Again, you get to decide which rides work for you.

Here are a few good reasons to consider volunteering for our driving program:

âś…-it's a rewarding way to support your community
âś…-meet and socialize with some wonderful people
âś…-you get to pick and choose the rides that work for your schedule
âś…-the social aspect of the drive can help our clients to ward off isolation, anxiety, and depression
âś…-rides to support someone's medical needs can help to maintain their independence and even stay in their home longer

If you'd like more information on becoming a volunteer driver, please contact our office at:

You can also sign up to be a volunteer directly on our website: https://www.neighbourlinksummerland.org/volunteer

This past Sunday, we had planned on having a guest speaker as Jim was away for the weekend. Our guest speaker, however, got sick on Friday morning and let us know they wouldn’t be available. So, Jim recorded a message on Friday afternoon and uploaded it to YouTube to be played during our Sunday morning gathering.

We also didn’t have any of our regular worship leaders around that weekend and were going to play videos to lead us in singing for our worship time together.

Well, evidently Jim did not communicate it thoroughly enough and no one was aware of the video that was our sermon for Sunday morning! Thankfully our vibrant little church took the opportunity to share testimonies and, I was told, had a good time gathered together.

So, you don’t have to watch or listen to this. It was a quick record with not much preparation as I mention in the video. But here is the sermon that I had planned to be played last Sunday about the risks the priests took who carried the ark into and across the Jordan River in Joshua chapter 3. As Jim has already recorded and released it, it won’t be a sermon he preaches later on in this series. So, if you’ve got a half hour to burn, take a look.
