Tomorrow’s service is cancelled. Church is not.
With Summerland evacuated and so many in our community displaced, we will not be gathering for our regular Sunday morning service tomorrow.
But while our service is cancelled, church is not.
Right now, we have an opportunity to be the church to one another and to our community.
If you have been displaced and need somewhere to stay, food, clothing, transportation, or any other practical help, please reach out. We have resources available and people ready to help you. We don’t want anyone in our community walking through this alone or wondering where to turn.
And if you are in a position to help, this is our opportunity to step in. Check on people. Pray with people. Share a meal. Open your home if you’re able. Help someone who has been displaced. Look for the needs around you and meet them where you can.
We know that some in our church family and throughout Summerland have already experienced devastating loss. In the days ahead, there will be much more to do, and as needs become clear, we will continue organizing practical ways for us to come alongside those who have been affected in our community.
Tomorrow morning, wherever you find yourself, take some time to pray with your family or with the people you’re staying with. Pray for those who have lost homes, for those who are still waiting to know what they will return to, for our firefighters and first responders, and for our whole community.
When an opportunity comes for us to gather in a safe place corporately, we will communicate via our social media and newsletter channels.
We love y’all. Psalm 46
