Many churches want individuals to come to church for Easter. When Christ rose from the dead he came to the disciples. He had to prove himself to those who were closest to him before. We have a backwards mentality in some ways. Pursuing churches grow because they pursue relationships. Outreach is about bringing something back not just giving something.

Dont let your personal stories with God be minimized with theology that doesn't line up with certain people's way of thinking. I know lots of naysayers point at the churches faults and say how could God have touched them at any point. Think of most of the new testament letters to the churches it was a mess in so many places. At no point did Paul ever dissuade the believers to doubt there experiences with God. They needed Pastoring and correction just like the churches still need today. Isn't discipline a form of God's love? Its a sign that God isnt gonna let them go there own way.

Mark 1:15-....and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand;[a] repent and believe in the gospel.”

Repentance isnt just turning from but turning towards something. Why i like how Mark displays Jesus preaching about the Kingdom of God. The mindset and actions are turning from and towards God's kingdom. When somebody says sorry it never really moves me. If its not followed by action or towards a proper path its just lip service its the same in our walk with God and why the Kingdom of God is so important. Its a change of a way of life. Most of us grow up in a democratic country God's kingdom isnt about getting voted in or what we want. Its about following a King and his kingdom.

Adoration prayer: He is the God who is ever present when we are in trouble.

Dwell on that no matter what your going through. God is present.

Psalms 46:1 NIV
[1] God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

At times you will follow a ministry and a way of thinking or how you relate to a certain verse of scripture. Ive seen ministries defend or interpret scripture through what there promoting. This is probably one of the most dangerous types of people to follow. When you sit with the scriptures let it interpret itself. Find teachers, commentaries who teach the Bible. I call it unhooking when you come to a place of scripture where you interpret it through the lens of someone else and you have to be faithful to the text. Its hard because you have always heard it like this but that's the beauty of the walk we have. We can study scripture on our own and be led by the Spirit of God.

The gospel is still for the believer. No matter how far you fall.

Ever notice how people can point out all the demons or darkness? Here's a point to ponder if we believe Revelations 12:4 is talking about a third of the stars being angels tha fell then there is twice as many angels at least that stayed serving God's purposes. Regardless when you go into a corner cabinet and its dark and your looking for something. You dont say can you turn the darkness down. No, you turn on the light. I would say this darkness is easy to see its the purposes of God we are after to see how he sees things. Be a thermostat invite the warmth of God when you see the thermometer dropping.

For many years ive struggled with the topic of spiritual abuse. I was naive to think that everything in the church was all rosy. The hardest part I think for many people is how can church be a place that's suppose to be loving caring and supportive have individuals who are abusive. I know for myself ive thought he/she is in leadership they do so much good things for God. Ive also had alot of self doubt about my experience. "I think thats just me or I have an ol wound i need to deal with" We then brush it off only for something else to trigger in someone's character or behavior. Often those warning signals are ignored or brushed off only for the hook to dig deeper. Even well meaning things that are done doesnt mean you can overlook the flaws.
For example think about Saul. He provided the sacrifice at a time when he wasnt being obedient to what God asked. He was doing a religious duty on the outside that looked good but its not what God wanted. The pharisees were very knowledge but were empty on the insides. I would bet they had an answer or a question for everything. They looked the part but Jesus knew they were off.
What about zeal? Jehu threw down idols led a political revolt but he didnt finish well it was all out of self interest. Think about prayer meetings that start with zeal and gusto but dont last perhaps there was to much self interest?
Its hard to describe situations and instances but it happens in religious circles. Remember even Adam and Eve fell for what was Good but not God.

I remember going to visit someone and we arranged to meet at church. Church time came i arrived and looked around my friend hadn't shown up. Half way through still didn't come. I started to feel offended and rejected. Looking at these two familiar feelings I wanted to loathe in them. Bitterness and anger started to rise. It really played at me for awhile even after the service he didn't show up. My wife asked me hey wasnt such and such suppose to be here?
I remember all the years I had known him and who he was. I paused all my feelings and sarcasm. I spoke out of my history with him. " I have known him along time and this is unlike him. Something must have come up." Not long after my phone dinged. He apologized profusely and said his wife's Dad was having a bad morning and they had to tend to him. His integrity and character spoke over my self loathing. I alway hold this saying close to my heart believe what people show you about themselves. I knew he was always upright with me and instead of me being offended and looking inward at feelings and holding onto them I let his character speak in his absence.

Growing up I always was under the impression God was far off until I turned things around in my life. That thought was contrary to scripture Adam and Eve blundered and God came and talked to them. He didn't hide or tell them to clean up he gave them a way forward. Think about other stories God sends someone to deliver Israel, God brings correction to David, God stops Saul( Paul) in his tracks. In other words hes made a way before we did anything. Hes inviting us into his ways.

I think we have such a me focus when we read the story of the prodigal. The story of the prodigal isnt so you can relate to the prodigal. It reveals the heart of the Father. Think about it most of us relate to the prodigal or hear sermons with mass emphasis on the prodigal returning. HELLO? The Father was the one waiting for him to return. He gave him back his rightful spot and more. Not only that he met with the elder brothers attitude to. He left the party to go meet with him. I have heard it said the prodigal story in the Jewish perspective is that its referred to as the story of the loving Father. Perhaps the story in our own lives dealing with prodigals and elder brothers is God is trying to reveal our heart.
