A large contingent of League members from the Calgary Diocese recently attended the Blooms & Blossoms Charity Dinner in support of Elizabeth House — a transitional home that provides sanctuary, community, and hope for pregnant women and mothers experiencing housing instability.

Elizabeth House walks alongside women as they work toward their personal goals, while fostering resilience, leadership, and self-confidence.

The evening was especially moving; a former resident shared her heartfelt testimony, touching everyone in attendance and bringing many to tears.

Sacred Heart’s CWL was honoured to host the 2026 World Day of Prayer this past Friday, March 6 at our church. Preparing for the event gave us a beautiful new perspective on the women of Nigeria, and the day itself was made even more special by the many community members and Calgary visitors who joined us. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped organize and all who attended—it was a joy to share this time together

We had a terrific time at Wheatland Lodge on Friday, February 27th! We got together to celebrate all our February birthdays with an afternoon of fun. Between the card and dice games, singing along to some vintage favorites on the piano, and a delicious lunch, it was such a great time. Cheers to a wonderful afternoon!

St Mary’s University is pleased to announce the launch of a new continuing education opportunity at St. Mary’s University: Catholic Women in Leadership, an eight-week hybrid program designed to equip and support women leading within Catholic communities and institutions. Beginning March 3, 2026, this program combines weekly online evening sessions with a concluding two-day in-person retreat in Calgary.

Program Details:
• Delivery: Hybrid (online sessions via Zoom + 2-day in-person retreat in Calgary)
• Dates: March 3 – April 28, 2026 (retreat date TBA)
• Time: 6:30–8:30 PM MST (online sessions)
• Course Fee: $400 (travel for retreat not included)

This program is ideal for emerging and established Catholic women leaders seeking to deepen their leadership capacity, strengthen resilience, and lead with clarity, compassion, and conviction in today’s complex environments.

What a delightful gathering we had on February 10th, as we spent time crafting together and snacking on tasty treats. Thank you, Anne, for your beautiful spiritual reflection and activity that you led, and to everyone who brought crafting supplies and tasty treats for us to enjoy. Many thanks to Mary and Christi for the photos they took to capture our evening. For all those who were inquiring about the white chocolate popcorn mix that Heather brought, following is the secret recipe (oops, I guess the secret is out of the bag 😊)

White Chocolate Popcorn Mix (Yields 9.5 Quarts)
16 cups popped popcorn (I use white cheddar popcorn)
3 cups Frosted Cheerios
1-1/2 cups pecan halves
1 package (14 ounces) milk chocolate M&M’s
1 Package (10 ounces) pretzel sticks
1 package English toffee bits (10 ounces) or almond brickle bits
7-1/2 (ounces) 2 packages (10 to 12 ounces each) vanilla or white chips
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1. In a large bowl, combine the first six ingredients.
2. In a microwave or heavy saucepan, melt chips and oil; stir until smooth.
3. Pour over popcorn mixture and toss to coat.
4. Immediately spread onto two baking sheets; let stand until dry, about 2 hours.
5. Store in an airtight container.
