Today we are celebrating the 22nd Sunday of Ordinary time.

Only by embracing the sacrifice of discipleship will we experience the fullness of joy and life.

Jesus reminds us that if we wish to follow him on the path of discipleship, we will have to pick up and carry our own cross. Just as Jesus was willing to give his all to fulfill the Father’s will, we must be willing to give our all to fulfill his will in our lives. It is only through such sacrifice that we will experience the fullness of joy and life.

Work continues at Holy Name of Mary on the rear entrances. Thank you to parishioners Tom, Nick and Mike Donati as well as Scopa Concrete for a job well done!  Entrances will remain closed for the weekend so all entry and exiting of the church must be done through the accessible door. Thank you!

Work has begun on the rebuilding of the steps at both rear entrances at Holy Name of Mary. For Mass tomorrow and this weekend, please enter and exit via the accessible door. Thank you for your patience and please remember to donate towards this much needed project.

Children's choir begins again Monday Sept 14th 5:30-6:15pm at St Joseph's Church.
Practices are every Monday and new members are always welcome! We will be singing at Mass on Sunday October 11th 12:00pm.

Today we celebrate the 21st Sunday in Ordinary time.

Trusting Jesus as Lord, let us ask for God’s grace to follow him.

Who do you say that I am? If we confess, like Peter, that Jesus is Messiah and Lord, there should be evidence of this in our lives. If Jesus is Lord of Sunday morning, he should be Lord of Saturday night. He should also be Lord of our speech and our actions. When we walk closely with Jesus as disciples, we will begin to look more like him.

Today we celebrate the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time.

O God, let all the nations praise you!

Christ’s words in today’s Gospel are puzzling and can seem unfair. Why does it seem that he initially rejects the woman’s request to heal her daughter because she is not Jewish? And did Jesus know she would be persistent in her request? Regardless, Jesus is impressed with her great faith and it provides him a “teachable moment” because he heals the woman’s daughter, showing that the kingdom of God is indeed for all people.
