✨ Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories too Srila Prabhupada. Aindra Prabhu Ki Jai! For less than a year Krishna’s mercy has presented my altar with the deities Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra & Subhadra. I’ve been told they have travelled from Orissa. From the mercy of Krishna I was able to purchase these at a Indian clothing store here in Stratford, ON. 

Beautiful photographs have also graced my altar - they are of Radha Krishna from along with Narasimhadev. Also photos of His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada along with the 6 Goswami’s from Vrindavan purchased from have also graced my altar. 
I auspiciously found my Butter Thief painting at a Value Village here in Stratford and immediately fell in love with it as well. 

Along with seasonal flowers and vegetarian offerings, I take great pleasure in offering agarbath from Sri Nityananda Dham Mysore and from Mayapur Dham as well. 

I came into Krishna Consciousness a couple months into COVID. From the mercy of Krishna I was leaving an abusive work relationship and with not being in school or work for the first time in years it gave me a great chance to search for some truth. After finding a copy of the Gita As It Is in a used book store and with a new found love for yoga asana, led me to interest in all things Gita. In my mundane digging of holes I stumbled upon on (eye roll) and was enthralled with Ragu’s story and description of Bhakti and immediately started listening to as many episodes of and become a member of their patreon Community , and have been a daily “other” ever since.

✨ My alter has been a work in progress since January of this year. It started with a cabinet and different deities that I have gifted to other devotees to have in their homes. The current deities that I have were ordered online. I have not named them. Perhaps in the future when I find a guru or a more senior devotee can name them. The Radha Krishna deities came from KrishnaStore.com and Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra, Guru Parampara acrylic pictures came from KrishnaCulture.com The art above the alter are some prints of my favorite pieces of Krishna Conscious art.

✨ My introduction (to Krishna Consciousness) came when I was a kid. My parents went to see Prabhupada’s Palace of Gold in West Virginia, completely as tourists. My mom brought home a small book about the palace and it is full of pictures of the temple and artwork. I absolutely loved it. She actually recently found it in storage and gave it to me! From then on Krishna just kept popping back into my life. I was involved with the hardcore scene/straight edge and loved several Krishnacore bands. Even after I dropped out of hardcore I kept a lot of the values I learned in the scene and still remain straight edge. Krishna kept popping into my life and towards the end of last year, I finally jumped into Krishna Consciousness.

The first deities that came to me are Sri Sri Radha Govindaji that came in 1998 from the ISKCON Temple gift shop in Nairobi, Kenya, over the years the other froms of the Lord have found their way onto my Altar: Sri Rajagopal (Lord Krishna seated in a Royal posture); Sri Damodar; Sri Ladu Gopal; Sri Sri Gaura Nitai; Jagannatha, Baladeva & Subadhra; Sri Nrsimhadeva with Pralada & Lakshmi; Salagrama Shilas (sacred stones from the Gandaki River in Nepal that are worshiped as different manifestations of the Lord) - Damodara, Ananta and Lakshmi Narayana; Balarama Dwarka Shila (sacred stone from Dwarka in Gujarat); and finally Srila Prabhupada.

I'd been visiting the ISKCON Temple in Toronto since my childhood but mainly for festivals like Janmastami and attended the Ratha-Yatra, but began to visit regularly when I was a student at U of T as the campus is nearby. It was then that I began to meet the devotees and take my spiritual practice to the next level.

Andrea Suárez - "Our Deities are Sri Sri Nitai Gaurasundara. They were named by HG Rukmini Walker. We received Them as a gift from my best friend Lila dd who found Them in the NYC Bhakti center temple shop. They come from Vrindavan and are hand painted. We've been serving Them since September 2020.

I came to Krishna consciousness via the NYC harinam devotees joyfully chanting in the subway back in January 2015. From there I attended Bhagavad-Gita classes at 26 second ave and become part of the Bhakti center community. My husband and I now live in Gainesville and are part of the Alachua temple community in Florida."

My altar is always evolving and yet very simple. I worship Gaura Nitai Deities, Lord Narasimha, Srila Prabhupada, and the Gaudiya Vaishnava disciple succession on my main altar and I serve a Tulsi Maharani plant as well as many other deities spread about my house on mini altars.
One day while serving at the Toronto Temple an elderly women came in and donated boxes of paintings and saris. I was serving as the Temple Coordinator and I helped her with everything from her car. At the bottom of one of the boxes I found Sri Sri Gaura Nitai deities! I have had the honour to serve, chant, meditate, and pray to many photos and paintings of Krishna over the years, but my heart always yearned to worship Gaura Nitai. All of my senior devotee mentors advised me to avoid purchasing deities, and instead pray for Them and one day They will come and They did! They were given the Names “Gaura Nitai Kanata” by HH Bhaktimarga Swami in 2019. I have served Their Lordships as my main deities ever since, and They love to travel to kirtans and events and be the counterpoint of the altars we create in every town and village.

I came to Krishna Consciousness as a yogi seeking enlightenment in the forests of Florida as a 19 year old traveller when I met a devotee named Garuda Das who had a Teepee temple at the Ocala Rainbow Gathering. I stayed with him for weeks and he taught me to chant and serve as the central focus of my yoga.

Gita G’alada - My Jaganath Baladev and Subhadra are very special to me as the story itself too. I have had them for approx 15 years, maybe less. My mom went to India and brought them for me from Jaganath Puri. Locals sell them there as ‘Auspicious trinkets’ on the beach to put in a car or so. Deities also had a ‘defect’, their eyes on their cheeks. So I took my mothers oil paints and with needles painted new eyes where they are supposed to be.

Somehow had them like ‘something auspicious’ for a few years with me wherever I traveled, they’re perfectly travel size, just 1” tall. One day I had a dream. They said “We want attention!” and in the dream I went to take paraphernalia from temple deities to tend to Jaganath Baladev and Subhadra, I was caught but said ‘They asked!’ and I woke up. That very moment I promised that my absolute minimum standard will be my obeisances incase nothing is available to offer.

They’re not officially installed and don’t have a ‘Name’.
There is also a pic of SP, Toronto Temple Deities, Elephant is holing a container with Vrindavan dust, in a box there are bottles with Shyama k***a, Radha K***a and Yamuna. Also a pic of Balaji Deities, gift from my mum as well.

Hare Krishna, on my altar I have many photographs of our Guruvarga like my own diksha guru, Srila BV Tridandi Maharaja, my Param Guru Sri Srimad BV Narayana Goswami Maharaja and Srila AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad whom I owe my very life to. Also I have pictures of holy places I have visited like Radha Kund, Vrinda Kund and Surya Kund which is a special place to me as I was given diksha initiation there. Also Sri Sri Gaura Nitai are here from Vrndavana as well and I dress Them and offer Gaura Arati daily. We are in the process of remodeling our home so eventually we will build a nice place for everything to be placed permanently.

I came to Krishna Consciousness in 1996 when I was 16. It was a popular topic in the hardcore music scene and a friend of mine took me to the small temple in Tampa. A month later I took a trip to NY Ratha Yatra and visited many temples on the way. I served for many years after but eventually took a detour from bhakti for over a decade. Although past few years I have been able to reconnect with my spiritual life. My six year old son is really enthusiastic which helps me continue my practice as well. We hold our family programs at our house in Rhode Island and hope to increase our outreach as time goes on.

Matthew - In my home I'm blessed to have the image of Sri Sri Radha Govinda's darshan from Iskcon New York. Along with the blessings of Srila Prabhupada & Pancha-Tattva (Lord Chaitanya & Associates).

It was an old book shelf with glass doors that I felt would be the perfect place for devotional practice. While in high school I was searching for who God was beyond my upbringing. Always loved the song My Sweet Lord when it came on my local soft rock station. That's when the question what is Hare Krishna? came about. Hanging out one weekend in the city I eneded up in Washington Square park during festival of chariots.

I was invited by a devotee name Atma to the matchless gifts temple for Bhagavad Gita classes... then one day to the Brooklyn temple. Upon entering Sri Sri Radha Govinda Mandir it was a whole new world.

The Kirtan, the beauty of Radha-Govinda was something all new yet seemed like I had known before. I wanted to always have that feeling when I wasn't at the temple. That is how my home altar came to be.
Truly a very sacred and most important place for me.

Govardhana Dasa - My deities, Srī Srī Nitai Chaitanya, were custom-crafted by a family of deity makers who have been creating murtis for more than two centuries. They were crafted from makrana marble in Rajasthan.

Accompanying Them are pictures of the guru parampara, and rotating decorations like marble brahman cows, sterling silver parrots, gold-plated elephants and glass lotus flowers.

I came to Krishna Consciousness after meeting a devotee on the street in Miami, while I was in high school. I was already vegetarian and into studying Buddhism and eastern religions, and when I walked into the temple for the first time, it felt very ‘familiar’ and peaceful to me. The smells, the prasadam, the music and the devotees were so attractive to me, that I knew something was right about it.
I became a brahmacari in 1992 in Gainesville, FL. and lived in the ashrams throughout my 20s and remained active as a temple grihastha into my 30s. After a 10 year ‘hiatus’ from my mid 30s to my mid 40s, I was fortunate enough to come back to Krishna Consciousness and am now able to serve as the founder and director of Portland Bhakti Center.
