Holy Spirit Parish Refugee Family Sponsorship Program Holy Spirit Parish is preparing to welcome Kareem (father), Simood (mother), Yasif (son) and Ameer (son) in 2011!

The Refugee Sponsorship Committee, by creating this forum, hopes to offer parishioners and community members a space to find contact information, stay updated about the project's status and fundraisers and ask questions about our initiative.

General information

With the expertise, experience and guidance from Julie Salach-Simard from the Catholic Immigration Centre, our committee chose a family of 4, a mother, father and two boys, aged 9 and 7. The father wrote a very compelling letter describing the atrocities he and his family have already faced because of their choice to follow the teachings of God as a Chaldean Catholic family. Unable to return safely to Iraq, the family currently lives in Syria awaiting news that they will be successful in their plea to come to Canada and live a life of freedom, not persecution, for their beliefs.
