Hi,

Sashbear is a registered charity with the motto of making waves for mental health and su***de prevention. There is no government funding and all money raised is through volunteers. All programming is free to the Canadian public and is by self referral. Our organizing committee is hosting a walk to increase the awareness around mental health and as a fundraiser. We are looking for volunteers and participants.

Could you please place an announcement in your weekly bulletins and/or on your website? As this is fairly new to Newfoundland, it’s our second year, spreading the word about the walk and decreasing the stigma around mental health is both challenging and so important. Sashbear believes in order to help the individual with mental health concerns it’s vital to also support the family and friends of the person and to keep everyone strong mentally. We especially want to reach out to people who have experienced barriers, through long wait lists or cost considerations.

Participants have sponsors who donate money via Sashbear's website. People can register or donate at https://sashbear.wildapricot.org/event-5143581

Date:Saturday, June 18h

Time: Registration, at the Elks Club is at 10:00 am

Walk starts at 11 am (You can do as much or as little of the walk as you would like.)

What: Sashbear Walk On The Rock 2023 - United For Change

Jai Sri Krishna,

Please make note that Swami Shantanandaji will be here from May 14th to May 20th this year. Swami Shantanandaji is the head of Chinmaya Mission West. He oversees the activities of 60 centres in the USA and Canada. He is the resident Acharya for the Chinmaya Mission Tri-State centre. He is well versed in our scriptures and travels throughout North America conducting Jnana Yagnas and sharing the teachings of Upanishads, The Bhagwad Geeta and several other books of Vedanta. He has been coming to St.John’s regularly for many years, and this will be his first visit after COVID Pandemic.

This is a rare opportunity for us so let's mark our calendars to make most of this spiritual growth opportunity. From May 15th to May 20th Swamiji will present a birds eye view of Srimad Bhagwat Gita. Session every day (from May 15th to 19th) will be as follows:

- Meditation every morning from 6.30 am - 7:00 am
- Teachings of Bhagwat Gita from 7:00 am - 8:00 am and 6.30 pm to 8:00 pm.

On 20th at 10am there will be a special session for parents and children aged 5 and up.

Please spread the word to your friends of various ethnicities as well as many individuals who are interested in learning about Bhagwat Gita.
As bringing such an opportunity to us all has a cost associated with it. Should you choose to contribute as Guru Dakshina for Swamiji's visit please write a cheque to the temple or e-transfer to [email protected] and a tax receipt will be issued.

Thanks.

Namaste!

Hindu Temple St. John's is resuming Balavihar classes this Fall. The courses use lessons from the Chinmaya mission syllabus to help children grow and mature so they are strong, emotionally stable, intellectually brilliant, and rooted in spirituality.

Children will be divided into three groups based on their age. At our temple, we will aim to bring this growth in a delightful and fun-filled manner.

The classes are Sundays from 11.30 am to 12.15 pm. However, we encourage kids to join the class after they attend the regular pooja at 11 am.

Registration for the classes will start this Saturday 8th of October, at 11.30 am at the Hindu temple. We ask interested parents to enrol their kids to accompany them on that day and register for their classes.
Those who have already submitted their registration via email are welcome to come as well.

The kids will be able to meet and greet their teachers and fellow students while having Pizza for lunch.

Please fill out this form to RSVP for the event.
