Cowan Heights United Church is located at 141 Frecker Drive in the west end of the city of St. John's is North America's oldest city, and Cowan Heights United, a congregation of some 226 families, is the newest United Church in the city. We are a congregation of Christian friends, celebrating God's presence among us, and inviting others to join with us. We meet for public worship each Sunday morni

ng at 11:00 a.m. Our church is wheelchair accessible. There is a family atmosphere in this congregation because people of all ages enjoy being together and supporting one another as we live out our faith. That faith originates in Jesus Christ, as we strive to continue the movement that he began. Jesus reached out to all kinds of people with God's love and that's why we do not exclude anyone from the circle of belonging. We are a part of The United Church of Canada, which is the largest Protestant denomination in Canada. It came together in 1925 as an amalgamation of Methodists, Presbyterians, and Congregationalists, but now it includes people with every kind of religious background. The United Church of Canada is an inclusive church which makes room for a wide variety of beliefs and opinions. But we all believe that God loves us and we want to respond by loving God and by loving our neighbors. As a community of God's people we welcome new members. Don’t have a cow, man! But hear us out: The Simpsons might actually have something to teach us about the Bible.

We're really excited for our fall education series 'The Gospel According to the Simpsons.' On Wednesday Evenings at 7:00 p.m. starting September 16th, we'll gather together, watch an iconic episode of The Simpsons, and explore some of the religious and biblical themes together. Over the course of several weeks we'll explore topics such as: prayer, morality, God, pluralism, the institutional church, hell, the devil, and the Bible. It'll be positively excellent! We hope to see you there!
