Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist:
Did you know that the Basilica's _Dead Christ_ statue by Irish sculptor John Hogan, done in 1854, was the last (and some say best) version of this subject sculpted by Hogan? Here (courtesy of the Basilica Heritage Foundation) are the three prior Irish versions. The first one shown at the top is at St. Teresa's Carmelite (Franciscan) Church, in Clarendon Street (just off Grafton Street) in Dublin, dating from 1829. The second one is a plaster version of the subject, done by Hogan in 1832, found at the Crawford Municipal Art Gallery, Cork. The third is the version found at St. Finbarr's South Chapel, Cork.
