Cowan Heights United Church is located at 141 Frecker Drive in the west end of the city of St. John's is North America's oldest city, and Cowan Heights United, a congregation of some 226 families, is the newest United Church in the city. We are a congregation of Christian friends, celebrating God's presence among us, and inviting others to join with us. We meet for public worship each Sunday morni

ng at 11:00 a.m. Our church is wheelchair accessible. There is a family atmosphere in this congregation because people of all ages enjoy being together and supporting one another as we live out our faith. That faith originates in Jesus Christ, as we strive to continue the movement that he began. Jesus reached out to all kinds of people with God's love and that's why we do not exclude anyone from the circle of belonging. We are a part of The United Church of Canada, which is the largest Protestant denomination in Canada. It came together in 1925 as an amalgamation of Methodists, Presbyterians, and Congregationalists, but now it includes people with every kind of religious background. The United Church of Canada is an inclusive church which makes room for a wide variety of beliefs and opinions. But we all believe that God loves us and we want to respond by loving God and by loving our neighbors. As a community of God's people we welcome new members. To learn more about our church and its program please explore our page and website, and feel free to contact our Minister, the Rev. Oliver Dingwell, or the church office.

May 17 is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia. Join us today in support of the non-negotiable truth of every person’s dignity.

Creator, we come to you with both the joys and the sorrows of our hearts.
We are grateful for the gift of life and the joy that it can bring.
For families and friends who love us.
For allies who stick up for us, even when we cannot risk sticking up for ourselves.
For the great diversity you have created in our world.
We pray for those who suffer from discrimination because of their gender identity or sexual orientation.
Who worry about their employment or who cannot find a job.
For those who must hide who they are to find housing.
For those who are not safe on our streets.
For those who do not feel safe in their place of worship.
Help us to end homophobia, transphobia, and biphobia, and all forms of discrimination and hate.
Show us the way to make this world a better place for all.
