Calvary has a wonderful ‘community’ church feel with a great blend of ages, styles and stages of faith. On a Sunday, you’ll see You’ll see individuals, young families, parents and grandparents mixed together in our informal service. The service carries that same great blend: from upbeat contemporary music to favourite hymns, messages that help you connect your faith to your daily life, and casual

time to connect with others. But Sunday morning is just the tip of the iceberg – during the week, there are exciting opportunities - youth group, small groups, bible studies, and much more! You’ll also regularly find opportunities to make a difference in the community and the world.

Do you enjoy playing euchre or would like to learn? Come join a fun group starting up this fall. Singles, couples, all ages are welcome! Groups of 8 people meet once a month (the 3rd Saturday) in members' homes (Oct. to April, excluding December). Unable to make a monthly commitment, you can add your name to the spare list, and fill in when someone is unable to play.

If you are interested in joining the euchre club, please sign your name to the signup sheet on the office counter. Deadline to sign up is Sunday, September 20th.

This past Sunday Orville looked at the encounter of Jesus and the demon possessed man in Mark 1:22-26. Jesus has the ability to bring health and wholeness - to individuals, to organizations, to whole people groups and nations. What in our world needs exorcism? What in our churches needs healing? What in your life should be cast out? Let us continue to place Jesus at the center of all areas of our life and allow His restoration power to be at work.

On Sunday we had the pleasure of hearing great teaching from Pastor Greg Smith-Young who took a unique look at the book of Philemon in our Encounters with Jesus series. We were reminded of the words of Paul, who encountered Jesus and invited Philemon and Onesius into a new way of living in the family of Jesus. That same invitation is for us - when we encounter Jesus, he changes how we see one another within His Body. Let us look at one another - even those who are challenging to love - through the eyes of Jesus.
