God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every other name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. — Philippians 2:9-11

Holy God: We are living in changing seasons and times on the earth not only in our weather and actual season, but in the ethos and ways of the world. Throughout the world, wickedness is being exposed in volumes. People who were and still are trusted and in positions of power have abused that power. Apathy abounds yet people wonder what they can do to stop the blatant corruption and abuse of power. Well in the free, democratic nations, we can certainly vote. And we can speak out too to our local members of government. and to others around us We can pray fervently too for sweeping changes needed, and for leaders of integrity to rise up to lead our nation. Lord, hear our prayers.

And we ask for the hand of Jesus to bring relief and hope to those suffering and struggling most in our world - the hungry, homeless, naked, sick, lonely, grieving, widows, orphans, prisoners, addicts and victims of war, abuse, neglect and human trafficking. In a world where everyone reveres beauty, power, fame and wealth, help us to prefer the humble and lowly. In Jesus's name we pray. Amen.

Isaiah 41:13 - For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not,
I am the one who helps you.”
Loving God,
As we walk through our mortal lives on earth, beset by trials and hardships we take solace knowing we never face them alone. Even when we feel walls closing around us, You open the door ahead, gently guiding us through the pits and snares, opening new avenues for us, subtly changing us as we walk. While we may not know the plan You have for us, we have the assurance that it is for our good. It is Your sheltering love and hand that banishes our fears and doubts, taking our moments of weakness and transforming them into moments of spiritual growth and tempering. Always at work in our lives, and in our spirit, strengthening our bond, growing our faith, like a patient gardener You always tend to our lives and needs, keeping us healthy and well cared for. We thank Thee, O God, for always leading us by the hand along our journeys and those of others. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. — Philippians 2:3-4

Holy God: You have fashioned us to live in families and to live in community. This interconnectedness of humanity means that we truly are our brother's keeper. When someone is struggling and needs help, we collectively need to offer that help. This is the basic social network of humanity and the stronger that social network is, the less fragile society becomes. Strong families and communities are built on mutual care. Help us to look to the needs of others and not merely to our own selfish ambitions and interests.

And may this mutual care focus fill food banks and soup kitchens up with food; fill clothing donation bins with our unworn and unloved items; fill our toy drives with abundant toys for the children in need; and fill our own hearts with the desire to do more for our fellow humans. All in the name of Jesus who always stopped for the one we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 5:18-19 - And do not get drunk with w**e, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart
Precious Lord,
We confess we sometimes become worn and weary by the chaos in which the world exists. While we try to follow your example, we struggle to see if our labours yield any rewards. For every success we find there seems to be several more issues needing our attention. Even when we are fatigued in mind, spirit and body we know You are there. In our deep slumber and quiet moments of reflection, we sense Your presence with us. We feel our minds being eased, our burdens of body and spirit being lifted from us. Then from the shadow of defeat and surrender, we sense the turning of the tide, our spirits rally as they are rejuvenated by You and Your love. Our hearts are filled with longing, our minds are sharp and attentive, our bodies refreshed and made strong, and then our lips open, and the words of the spirit pass into the world. Truly You are great, O God, how sure and steadfast is Your love, and how mighty and indomitable is Your Spirit that all we can do is rejoice in our salvation, our hope and Your glory. We thank You, God, for the healing of our minds, bodies and spirits; and for the blessings of Your teachings and Your love, mercy and grace. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. — Matthew 6:33

Holy God: Thank you that even if we are unfaithful you remain faithful to us. We wander easily from the path of faith and righteousness. You are quick to forgive us our sins. We wander thirstily looking at the lures of the world and forgetting the truths of your kingdom. Forgive our wandering ways. We look longingly at what we have given up behind us while forgetting to embrace what is promised ahead of us. Forgive us, Lord, we pray.

Forgive us too for being cold-hearted and uncaring to the needs of those around us in food for the hungry; shelter for the unhoused; clothing for the cold and naked; freedom for the captives; protection for the victims; and provision for the widows and orphans. Lord forgive us, we pray. In Jesus' name. Amen.

"I, even I, am the Lord, and apart from me there is no savior. I have revealed and saved and proclaimed — I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses," declares the Lord, "that I am God." — Isaiah 43:11-12

Holy God: Forgive us for not giving you the credit you deserve for all you do in our daily life and in our world. It is not luck that guides us. It is not our own wisdom that keeps us safe from perils we cannot see or anticipate. It is not the plants or pills that heal us when we are sick. It is you Lord who delivers each of us in our times of need. Forgive us for ever thinking differently or crediting something else.

And it is you Lord who will protect and provide for the most vulnerable of our world too with food for the hungry; housing for the unsheltered; clothing for the naked; health for the sick; hope for the brokenhearted; freedom for the captives; and protection for the widows and orphans. Lord hear our prayers. Amen

John 1:43 - The next day Jesus decided to set out for Galilee. Finding Philip, He told him, “Follow Me.”
Lord,
From varied pasts and journeys we have come. Some were searching for You, while others You find in times of distress or vulnerability. You saw past our weakness and failings, seeing the strength of promise of faith within. Regardless of station, occupation, country of origin You see only a child You love, a being wonderfully created by Your design. You take us with our weaknesses and transform them into strengths, opening doors to us which we never knew existed. Instilling in us a mission of love and compassion; infusing within us a zeal to do Your work, stoking our spirit with love and fervor, and an eagerness to follow. We thank You God for Your love, for grace and providence. Now let us be faithful disciples and work to complete the mission of Your church to care and attend to the needs of others, to offer forgiveness and love, to speak boldy of Your love and mercy. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
