Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross! — Philippians 2:5-8

Holy God: Your thoughts are not our thoughts neither are your ways our ways. Thank you that we can count on your ways to be just and fair, right and holy, merciful and healing too. Forgive us for trying to compare your ways or thoughts to our ways or thoughts. We are flawed people who are selfish in nature and hard-hearted in our ways. Give us hearts of love to be your hands and feet on the earth, and to let your light shine through us.

Today we ask for relief for the struggling in food for the hungry; shelter for the unhoused; health for the sick; comfort for the worried, lonely or grieving; salvation for the lost; hope for those without hope; and deliverance for the addicts, captives and prisoners. Give us hearts of compassion to care for the oppressed and struggling of our world. All in the name of Jesus who always stopped for the one we pray. Amen.

Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. — Hebrews 11:6

Holy God: We thank you that the Kingdom of God is simple to access and simple to understand. No complicated rituals, rules or regulations. All we are asked to do is to believe that God exists. How can one not look at the beauty of a new sunrise or a freshly bloomed flower, and not see the Divine? How can one hear thunder roar or the sea billow, and not recognize the majesty of the Creator? A simple sentence like "God I love you and I commit to knowing you better" can begin one's faith journey today. When we start dating our lifetime partner, it is not too long when we know in our heart that we want to get to know them better. And there is a point where we push pasat our fear and reservations and decide to commit our lives to being with them. A life of faith is very similar. We get to know God better and better week after week, and year after year. We may not always understand God's ways but we are simply called to trust His love for us.

Lord we seek you out too for the healing and help needed most for the vulnerable of our world - food for the hungry; healing for the sick and grieving; shelter for the unhoused; protection for the widows and orphans; deliverance for the addicts, prisoners and victims of abuse, neglect, war and human trafficking. In a world that urges us to love only the lovely, help us to love the unlovely too. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor. — Proverbs 22:9 (NIV)

Holy God: We thank you for the blessings of life. I love the adage that when you have more than you need, do not build a wall to keep others out but rather build a longer table so you can share your bounty. Help us to have generous hearts so that we share with those around us.

And prompt us to share our time with the lonely, grieving or discarded; our food with the hungry; our excess bedding and clothing with the naked or homeless; our prayers and well wishes with the sick or dying; our advocacy for the victims of neglect, assault, addiction and human trafficking. In a world that pushes promoting the self, help us to the needs of others. In the name of Jesus who stopped for the one we pray. Amen.

A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children, but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous. — Proverbs 13:22 (NIV)

Holy God: We thank you for the gift of family. Whether we have a home full of children or a bloodline full of cousins, aunts, and uncles, family is very important to us, like it is to you. Thank you for the gift of family and an opportunity to build legacies of love within these families.

Thank you too for neighbours, friends and strangers to love as family. Help us to pour out our love over those who need it most - the lonely and grieving; the hungry and homeless; the sick or dying; the broken and rejected; the captives, addicts and prisoners; the victims everywhere of abuse, neglect, war and human trafficking. Family is wherever love is shared. Help us to build families everywhere we go. In the name of our loving brother Jesus we pray. Amen.

Isaiah 41:10 - So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Lord, when the storms of life churn and toss, the waves and surges threaten to overwhelm us, we sometimes flounder and become lost. Yet at the times that seem darkest and hopeless, Your light shines forth beckoning us home, from Your hand comes the lifeline that draws us to safe shores and harbours. When we feel alone and dismayed, You are there standing with us, lifting us up with Your hand. Your ways and means of communication are sometimes an enigma to us; as sometimes Your help comes in the form of a stranger, a friend, a member of kith and kin. Your angels are among us, O God safely guarding and protecting us from harm. When we but take a moment to listen and think, to speak with You, we realize that You are always here with us, and that Your love will never let us go, and You will always take our hand and lead us to where we need to go. We thank You God, for Your love and friendship, for being steadfast in Your belief of us, just as we are in our belief for you. In Jesus’ name we ask that this feeling of family never depart from us; but that it may grow outward through us to touch others. Amen.

Revelations 21:3 - “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Blessed Saviour,
We pray this day for your comforting touch to alight upon the Connor family, who are coping with grief of their loved one, Alice. While we will miss the times with her, and the beauty she brought to the world; we are comforted in knowing that for her, she is at rest and in peace in Your loving arms. We take solace in Your words that we will meet again on the other side of Jordan in a land where we’ll never grow old, and there will be no death, mourning, crying or pain. That we will all be given new resurrected bodies and live in eternal paradise with you. May you comfort the spirits, hearts and minds and bring forth fond, healing memories of a life well lived and shared with family and friends. Lord, thank You for your gift of love and mercy, of fashioning for us a mansion in your heavenly kingdom. For we know, we will see you and our loved ones in another time and space, where we will truly be at home. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
