Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid. — Proverbs 12:1 (NIV)

Holy God: Just as children are to learn by correction from their parents and teachers, we too are to learn from our errors and failed first attempts. We need to trust that just as parents are patient with toddlers learning new skills that so too is God patient with us as we learn new spiritual disciplines like listening for His voice. For this we are thankful.

And for all the ways you bring relief to those struggling the most with food for the hungry; shelter for the unhoused; clothing for the naked; health and healing for the sick; peace for the tormented and grieving; and hope to those who have lost all hope. Lord, use us to bring lasting changes for those who need it most, we pray. All in Jesus' name. Amen.

These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation. ... "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." — Revelation 3:14, 20

Holy God: We thank you for the gift of free will. You never force anyone to love you back...we get to choose but we also have to accept the consequences of not choosing you too. People complain that their lives are difficult and scary yet they choose not to involve God in their lives. All of this is our own free will - a gift and a curse both. Lord, we pray for the courage to trust you more and more in our lives knowing that we cannot do what you can in those lives.

We pray for the most needy of our world to find your love and help too in food for the hungry; shelter for the homeless; provision for the impoverished; friendship for the lonely; freedom for the captives and addicts; and healing for the sick and grieving. Lord, may we all hear your knocks more clearly this month. Amen.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 - Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
Precious God,
We thank You for the solace and peace we find, the calming reassurance that no matter what befalls us be it troubles of body, mind or spirit we do not face them alone. That You walk beside us each step of the way, You place Your arm around us and steady us to keep us from falling. Despite of circumstance, we feel Your love and touch, hear Your voice and encouraging presence soothing our brokenness. Truly we are blessed beyond all measure, O God and being blessed so too we should take our blessings and use them to bless others. Help us, Lord to find the words of comfort, of healing, of understanding and the soothing touch and presence of a friend to comfort others in their times of trouble. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Proverbs 2:2-4 - turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding 3 indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, 4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,
Lord,
We ask that Your wisdom and guidance finds its way into the upcoming school year, that the children grow in love, mercy, wisdom, knowledge and understanding. May Your compassion be present in each school, so all children feel safe and welcome. May Your gentle hand and voice direct the teachings so they are easily understood and retained. We welcome this time of growth in our community; entrusting the future to younger generations to come in the certainty that in all things Your will be done in a time and fashion of Your choosing. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. — 1 Corinthians 1:18 (NIV)

Holy God: We thank you for the gift of redemption through the cross. Your love is amazing and we are thankful for second chances day after day. Open the eyes of our heart to the vastness of your love and grace not only for ourselves but for all of humanity.

Pour out the love and grace over those hurting the most in our world - the hungry and homeless; the sick and dying; the lonely and grieving; the oppressed and captives; the addicts and prisoners. In a world filled with abundances, help us to share so others thrive too. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in his ways. — Psalm 128:1 (NIV)

Holy God: To fear the Lord is not to tremble in a corner in trepidation but rather to respect and revere the speaker and their requests. God has commands or rules to protect us and keep us safe from harm. When those rules are broken, people get hurt, much like the laws of the lands in which we live. Children are wise to listen to the instructions of their parents, teachers and coaches, and we too would be wise to listen to God's Word and wisdom.

We pray for breakthrough and protection for our most vulnerable in the world with food for the hungry; shelter for the homeless; a land for the refugee; protection and provision for the widows and orphans; healing for the sick; answered prayers for those in need and in distress; and freedom for the captives everywhere. Oh Lord hear our prayers. Amen.

Hebrews 4:15 - For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.
Precious Saviour,
Sometimes when we are troubled or lost we lose sight of the fact that Christ has been there too, He knows the struggles, the trials and hardships, the troubles and tribulations we face. Truly, Jesus can empathize with us and understand our weakness. Because He knows and understands, He stands beside us offering support and assistance. Taking our burdens He shoulders them with us, and lifts us up to more than we think we are capable of. Our hearts and minds are eased, our weariness and fatigue leave our limbs and bodies, our spirit is revived and uplifted. For us, this is our solace, our hope and strength of our belief that God loves us so much, He gave His only Son for us, gifting us the Holy Spirit so we will never have to face a battle alone, that we will always walk beside our Saviour, and have the ear of the Almighty attend our call, and in a voice for us alone will hear the words we need to heal and uplift us, to strengthen and guide us. We thank You, God for Christ our Saviour, for the Holy Spirit and for Your enduring love and grace. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
