The sanctuary was filled with people from near and far yesterday, for St. Andrew's Presbyterian church's annual Memorial Sunday Service.
Rev. Ian MacMillan led this meaningful time of worship, which began with the baptism of Peyton Miss Frankie, daughter of Chris and Whitney Ferguson.
Special music was shared by Eileen MacCuaig, Shannon MacCuaig, Sherri Fourney, and Cameron Pearson, whose gifts enriched the service.
Following the final hymn, the congregation quietly gathered outside at the cemetery for a Service of Remembrance. Ann Margaret MacCuaig played Amazing Grace on the bagpipes, providing a moving moment of reflection as families remembered loved ones. The morning concluded with a time of fellowship, the congregation gathered for lunch in the church hall.

This Sunday’s service was led by Scott Fourney and his niece Marley MacCuaig, with a beautiful focus on Christian outreach.

The congregation was immersed in Marley’s story telling and slideshow of her recent experience.

This past April, Marley and her family hosted a fundraiser to support her upcoming service trip to Panama with the University of Guelph Medical Brigade, part of Global Brigades, the world’s largest student led movement for global health and sustainable development.

Marley’s team had the unique opportunity to serve in the province of Herrara, becoming the first group to establish medical outreach in this community. While most volunteers work in clinics already in place, Marley’s team helped lay the foundation from the ground up.

Their work began by visiting homes door to door, gathering medical information, creating the community’s first medical charts, and helping the Brigades understand the residents’ needs. Once the data was collected and entered, the team set up pop up clinics. Over three days, they provided medical and dental care, medication, and health education to over 500 residents.

As Marley’s time came to an end, another team arrived to continue the work. From the foundation her group helped build, volunteers will support the community until a permanent clinic is established to be led by local healthcare professionals. This fulfills the mission of Global Brigades: To work alongside communities to improve health and quality of life through long term, sustainable partnerships. Their philosophy is simple and powerful: Communities are not passive recipients of help they are equal partners in creating lasting change.
