Hello brothers and sisters in Christ,

Holy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper, where Jesus had His last meal with His followers before He was killed.

There are three key aspects of the Last Supper:
The Institution of the Eucharist (establishment of the sacrament of Holy Communion)
The Institution of the Ministerial Priesthood (the giving of authority to the apostles to continue Jesus’ mission)
The Commandment of Brotherly love (Jesus’ washing of the feet of his disciples showing service and humility.)

This day is also referred to as Maundy Thursday. Maundy comes from the Latin word "mandatum" which means "mandate" or "command." "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." - John 13:34.

At the end of the meal, Jesus washed the feet of His disciples as a sign and example of humility and love. In modern times, the foot-washing ceremony is an important call for all people that they too should be willing to serve others. "Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them." - John 13:16-17
