Sometimes when I felt like I didn't know how to pray, I think I was just scared to. Scared to just be honest, as if God can't handle my questions or frustration. It's okay to be raw, honest, broken, and come un-done before the LORD. That's what Joshua did in Joshua Chapter 7.

It's okay to be honest with God. The Bible doesn't shy away from honest moments of pain and confusion where people ask loaded questions of God. That's exactly what we see in Joshua Chapter 7. If you haven't checked out my video talking through this relatable moment in Joshua's story, find it on youtube, or grab a Bible and read Joshua 7:2-10.

Ever went from confident to confused? So did Joshua. First the walls of Jericho crumble, then, so did his faith. It's very relatable. You can learn more about this lesser known moment from the life of Joshua in my youtube video.

Life doesn't always make sense. If we're honest, sometimes God doesn't make sense. It's comforting to know we aren't alone, and that icons from the Bible had similar moments. Moments that the Bible captures honestly, transparently, and relatably. Checkout my new video on youtube "When Following God Feels Confusing" to learn more about what I consider the most relatable part from the story of Joshua.

Life can have highs and lows. Most of us only see other peoples highlights or remember highlights from stories in the Bible. Take Joshua for example: Most people know he was leading the people when the walls of Jericho came down, but how about his prayers shortly afterwards where he cries out, blames God, and essentially says, "We never should have listened to you!" I shared a video on youtube talking about this lesser known and very relatable moment in the life of Joshua.

I've shared photos of my travels before. What I haven't shared are the moments I've had with God behind the steering wheel of my truck.

One night stands out in particular (or morning if you want to split hairs).

It was the night before my Mom's funeral. I was slated to preach the sermon. I had no idea what I was going to say.

I had wrestled with it for over a week.

As you could imagine, I wanted to do well. I wanted to serve all those who would be in attendance, proclaim truth and hope amidst pain, and make my Momma proud.

I had nothing.

Honestly, I felt like it should have been easy. My heart was in the right place. God should just "download" a message into me and make everything clear.

He hadn't.

I was exhausted. Grieving. Overwhelmed. At my breaking point.

I told him all about it. In the parking lot of Askews Foods (our local grocery store), God and I had words.

I know He listened.

After reaching a place of brokenness I'd never reached before, He went to work.

This is the kind of moment I find in Joshua 7.

Most people remember Joshua for courage.

The walls of Jericho falling.
Victory.
Confidence.
Leadership.

But Joshua 7 shows us a different moment as he collapses to the ground in confusion and grief.

I shared a new YouTube video that explores one of the most human and overlooked moments in Joshua’s story — and why it matters so much for our own lives.

My mother. Did she once refer to one of the best goal scorers of his generation as Temu Salami? 100%. Regardless, she loved the game. I have zero doubt she would have loved a Mother’s Day that looked exactly like this.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! This is for all the Moms out there. But, if I may, a want to extend a special Happy Mother’s Day to any of you sports Moms. It’s busy, it’s chaotic, it’s expensive, it’s stressful. It means more than words can capture.

P.S. She was terrible at guitar hero.

I knew I moved around and talked a lot at events, but thanks to my apple watch & having my event transcribed I now know how much.

👟 Average Steps Per Event: 14,000-18,000
That does include set up and take down, but 10,000-12,000 come from the event alone.

🎤 Average Words Spoken Per Event: 27.000
A transcription of an event recording revealed I spoke 27,000 words. Studies suggest the average person speaks roughly 16,000 words a day. And 27,000 doesn't account for visiting with people before or after.

I need orthotics & a lozenge.

First full week home from tour. Still reflecting on the events, the people, and the impact.

People often ask me, "How does it feel now that tours over?" There's no straight answer.
Tired, grateful, contemplative, a drift. A weird mashup of overwhelming gratitude, ready for rest, hating that it flew by so fast and not sure what to do without upcoming events.

If I had to pick 1: Grateful. Grateful to get to share the story, pour out my passion, meet so many amazing people, enjoy our beautiful country, and hear how powerfully this story has touched the hearts and lives of those who came. Grateful I get to be used by The Author, to share The Story, with the ones He wrote it for.

It’s only as boring as you make it.
