This week begins our Advent journey. For the next 4 weeks, you are welcome to join us at any of the following times:

--

On Wednesdays at 6:30, 4 churches are hosting a traveling Advent series. This week's service will be held at Mount Zion Lutheran Church (11533-135 St NW, Edmonton). Mount Olivet's host service is on December 13th.

--

On Thursdays at 6:30, our Advent Hymn Journey begins. Join us at Mount Olivet as we take time to reflect, not only in poetry of song, but in our relationship with Jesus. Each week will give us opportunity to be attentive in different ways to a light that is to come, through the songs that carry us through Advent.

--

Lastly, our Longest Night Service arrives on December 3rd at 4:00 p.m. This service of compassion acknowledges that this season brings more than joy to our worlds. At times, it is a difficult time - for many different reasons - and we want to invite you all to this open space to simply "be" with whatever you are feeling in this season. Join us as you are. Following the service, you are invited for chili and soup.

Much grace to you all.

Dear Faith Family,

Midweek Lenten service TODAY, March 8th at Mount Olivet 6:45 p.m. All are welcome!

Tonight is our second week of Lent Together! This week we will gather at MOLC at 6:45 for a time of visiting followed by a short service. We will be focusing on how Psalm 121, "I lift up my eyes to the hills; from where is my help to come? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth", relates to this time of Lent.

This is a wonderful opportunity for us to be a part of our greater Lutheran family in our area. Bring a friend.
Blessing in your Lenten journey,
Pastor Colin

Lent Together

Lent is a season in our church year when we intentionally “give up” something to make room for us to “take on” something as a Lenten discipline. In our time, some are giving up social media to spend more intentional time with family or friends. Others are intentionally supporting relief organizations with their time or money.

For this Lenten season we are being given an opportunity to “free up” our Wednesday evening and “take on” joining others at Lutheran Church in the greater Edmonton area - called Lent Together.

This week’s service is at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church (11223 - 51 Ave. NW, Edmonton).

Come at 6:45 for a walk around their church, followed by a service, followed by fellowship. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to be a part of our greater Lutheran family in our area.

Please join me,
Pastor Colin

Dear Faith Family,
For this Ash Wednesday, Today, we will be offering a “drop in” Imposition of Ashes during the hours of 2pm to 7pm.
Ashes symbolize aspects of our human condition. Ashes remind us of our mortality―the shortness of human life. As God said to Adam, “Dust you are and to dust you shall return” [Genesis 3:19]. Ashes also symbolize cleansing (in ancient times ashes were used in the absence of soap). Ashes remind us of our need for forgiveness. We receive ashes on our forehead in the form of the cross, the same symbol placed on our bodies with water at our baptism.
The ashes are a mixture of burnt palms from Palm Sunday and frankincense oil.
Blessings as you move into our Lenten season,
Pastor Colin
