Worship and Arts Team News

St. John's Board and the Worship and Arts Team have been working together to ensure we offer inspiring worship through the summer months. We are most grateful for our talented lay leaders, and have a few special guests from out of town as well.

Sally McShane will be with us on both July 5th and July 19. Sally brings a wealth of experience in ministry working in prisons, accompanying Holocaust survivors, and working on the downtown east side. She is a writer, grandmother, and passionate theologian.

On July 12, Maggie Enwright will lead the service. Maggie is the Pastoral Relations and Community of Faith Support Minister for our region. Her support, encouragement and wisdom have been a blessing to us over the past two years, we are very excited to have her here to preach.

We conclude the month with our own Deb Crispin, who needs no introduction. Deb has led many services in the past, it is always a treat to have Deb in the pulpit.

More excitement is in store for August, we will keep you posted!

The Moderator’s Pride message June 4th, 2026

🌈Happy Pride: A Message of Apology, Healing & Radical Belonging

In 2025, The United Church of Canada offered an apology to 2S and LGBTQIA+ people and communities—naming the real harm caused through words, actions, silence, and systems that failed to protect and affirm God’s beloved people.

The Moderator's Pride Message reflects on that apology—not as an ending, but as a beginning. A threshold into deeper healing, accountability, and transformation. Pride is more than celebration.
It is remembrance. It is resistance. It is a witness to the sacred truth that every identity rooted in love and authenticity is a divine gift.
Radical belonging is not optional—it is at the heart of the Gospel.

May we continue the work of becoming a church that learns, acts with courage, and lives out love in word and deed.

Happy Pride. Download this video here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH6JkGe3ME0

Live proudly into our vision statement:
‘Joyful in faith, compassionate in service and inclusive in communty!’
