DETAILS TO BE ANNOUNCED BY END OF SUMMER

Learn Greek Through Singing

Father George Kolios, Presiding Priest of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church Greek Community of Toronto in Scarborough, is planning the formation of two separate choirs: one for children and one for adults.

The choirs will focus on general music education and choral singing, offering participants the opportunity to develop their musical skills, cultivate a love for singing, and take part in a variety of musical activities and performances.

More information regarding the program, rehearsal schedule, and registration process will be announced toward the end of the current summer.

Participation in the choirs will require a successful audition, which will take place prior to the beginning of their activities.

🌿 Δευτέρα του Αγίου Πνεύματος – Monday of the Holy Spirit 🌿
Today at St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church, our hearts were lifted as we celebrated the radiant feast of the Holy Spirit — the day when God’s grace descended upon the Apostles and the Church was strengthened with divine power.

Scripture reminds us: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” (Acts 1:8). And again, “The Helper, the Holy Spirit… will teach you all things” (John 14:26).

As we gathered in prayer, incense, and quiet reverence, we felt that same comforting presence — the Spirit who renews, enlightens, and guides every faithful soul. ☦️✨

🙏 A warm and heartfelt thank you to Rev. Father George for leading today’s beautiful service with wisdom and gentleness, and to our beloved church chanter, whose prayerful hymns filled the temple with peace and holiness. Your devotion helps our community experience the depth of this sacred feast.

May the Holy Spirit bless every home with strength, clarity, and unshakable hope.

🇬🇷 🌿 Happy June, Καλό Μήνα από την οικογένεια της St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church! 🇬🇷 ☦️
As we welcome the blessed month of June, may Christ fill your homes with peace, your hearts with unshakable faith, and your families with health, joy, and protection. 🙏☦️

May each new day bring fresh hope, every prayer draw you closer to His love, and every step be guided by the gentle light of our Lord. As summer begins to unfold, may God grant rest to the weary, strength to the struggling, and gratitude to every soul He carries.

🌿 Καλό Μήνα σε όλους!🌿
May God’s grace surround you, and His blessings remain with you throughout the month ahead. 💙✨

Holy Pentecost ☦️

Today, the Orthodox Church celebrates the Great Feast of Holy Pentecost, the fulfillment of Christ’s promise to send the Holy Spirit upon His disciples. Fifty days after the Resurrection and ten days after the Ascension, the Apostles were gathered together when the Holy Spirit descended upon them as a mighty wind and tongues of fire. Filled with divine grace, they began speaking in many languages, proclaiming the Gospel to people from every nation.

Pentecost is often called the Birthday of the Church, for it was on this day that the Apostles were empowered to begin their mission to preach Christ to the world. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, thousands were baptized, and the Church began her ministry that continues to this day. This feast is also a celebration of the Holy Trinity.

As we celebrate this holy day, let us pray that the Holy Spirit may continue to guide, strengthen, and renew us in faith, love, and service to God and our neighbor.

“Blessed are You, O Christ our God, who made the fishermen all-wise by sending down upon them the Holy Spirit, and through them drew the world into Your net. Glory to You!”

☦️ Happy Feast of Holy Pentecost! ☦️

🌟 Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council – May 24 🌟
What a blessed and spiritually rich morning we shared at St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church this past Sunday, as we honoured the Fathers of the 1st Ecumenical Synod in Nicaea. These holy defenders of our faith gathered in 325 AD to affirm the divinity of Christ and safeguard the unity of the Church. Their courage, wisdom, and devotion continue to guide us, reminding us that our Orthodox faith is both a sacred inheritance and a living responsibility. ✝️✨

As our community prayed together, we felt the beauty of their legacy alive in every hymn, every prayer, and every moment of fellowship.

🙏 A heartfelt thank‑you to Rev. Father George for his inspiring and thoughtful Divine Liturgy.
🎶 Warm thanks to our lovely church chanter, whose angelic voice lifted our hearts heavenward.
💙 And deep gratitude to our many dedicated volunteers, who lovingly prepare and serve coffee, homemade Greek sweets, and snacks each week — offering hospitality that truly reflects the warmth of our parish family.

May the Holy Fathers intercede for us and keep our Church united in truth and love. ✝️💙
