The Diocese of Algoma: Shaped by a Living Hope

The Diocese of Algoma: Shaped by a Living Hope God has already inaugurated the fulfillment of all things in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We are discovering renewed vision, vitality and viability as we allow the promises of God – the hope before us - to shape our priorities and practices today. The Diocese of Algoma is a community of Anglican parishes and ministries serving Northern Ontario, from Muskoka to Thunder Bay and the shores of Lake Superior to the North Channel. Rooted in worship, service, and reconciliation, we support vi

brant local ministries, camps, outreach programs, and faith communities in cities, towns, and rural communities across the region. Led by Archbishop Anne Germond, the Diocese is committed to sharing the love of Christ through compassionate service, spiritual formation, and courageous hope.

On June 21, we will observe the National Indigenous Day of Prayerβ€”a day to give thanks for the gifts of Indigenous peoples, pray for healing and reconciliation, and deepen our commitment to walking together in Christ.

In a special message, Archbishop Anne Germond reflects on ministries across the Diocese of Algoma that are helping to build understanding, hope, and healing through relationships, service, education, and faithful accompaniment.

Before believing, there is belonging.

In a moving reflection, Archbishop Anne Germond shares why creating communities of belonging may be the most important gift we can offer children, youth, and families. Drawing on her own experience as a parent, grandparent, and parish priest, she reminds us that faith often begins with a simple but powerful truth: knowing there is a place for you.

As the Diocese of Algoma continues its Children, Youth & Family Ministry consultation process, Archbishop Anne invites us to imagine new ways of helping young people know they are seen, valued, and welcomed in the life of the Church.

Read "Belonging Comes First" and join the conversation about the future of children, youth, and family ministry in Algoma.

This Sunday, Archbishop Anne Germond will visit St. Stephen the Martyr Anglican Church in Thunder Bay for the celebration of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation.

The service begins at 10:00 a.m. and will include the confirmation of three young people who are affirming their commitment to Jesus Christ.

It has has been nearly a decade since the parish last celebrated a confirmation service, making this a particularly joyful occasion for the congregation and the wider Church.

Please keep the confirmands, their families, and the parish community in your prayers as they prepare for this important milestone in their faith journey.
