The Archbishop pays tribute (see the link provided) to The Rev. Canon Rosalie Goos, who died in the early morning of Thursday, August 29, 2024. Funeral arrangements have yet to be confirmed. As we give thanks for Rosalie, please pray for her family, and for the many in our Diocesan family who already feel the pain of her absence.

The Diocese in which I serve, The Diocese of Algoma: Shaped by a Living Hope, has three summer camps that provide a longstanding and effective ministry with children and youth. It is a ministry in which I have had the privilege to serve. This year, in partnership with the Anglican Foundation of Canada, I am serving as "captain" for my Diocese in seeking to raise at least $5000 for these camps. As we raise money, the Foundation is matching some of those funds. I do not usually do this on this page (in fact, I am not sure I have ever done so before), but I am reaching out to the generosity of my FB friends to make a donation, large or small, to this very worthwhile ministry. Blessings on this new ministry, Thomas!

The Rev. Thomas Ferris has been appointed as full-time Incumbent of Church of the Redeemer (Thessalon)/St. Saviour’s (Blind River) for a one-year period (renewable), effective September 15, 2023.

Thomas was ordained to the sacred order of deacons at Synod this year and presently serves as Deacon Associate of St. James, Goulais River where he has just completed the internship required for the completion of his M.Div. (Trinity College – May 2024 conferral). He is a graduate from Thorneloe University with a B.Th (2022), a Diploma of Theology (2021), and a BA (Hons..) in Religious Studies (2021).

We uphold Thomas, his family (Amanda and Amelie), and the parish in our prayers as they begin this new ministry together.
