Hello all,
It's be a while since I've posted an update about LSCC so here it is:
SUMMER SERVICES:
We are having our summer services on THURSDAYS at 7 PM. We are journeying through a book called NAMED: The Patriarchs. This past Thursday we learned about Noah. Here is our summer schedule:
THURSDAY, JULY 20 - Abram
THURSDAY, JULY 27 - Jacob
THURSDAY, AUGUST 3 - no service
THURSDAY, AUGUST 10 - Joseph
THURSDAY, AUGUST 17 - Moses
THURSDAY, AUGUST 24 - Joshua
THURSDAY, AUGUST 31 - Wrap-Up
We will take a look at the lives of these people, the times in which they lived, insight into into how they fit into God's story, and discussion questions to help us see how God's story, life, love and salvation work in us.
Here is an excerpt from my Pastor's Report for 2022-23:
Youth Ministry
The highlight ministry for us this year is youth. Thank you for your support and prayers for me as I have ministered to our youth through discipleship and activities over this past year. I am grateful for our five core youth and their desire to learn more about God and their commitment to share their faith with their friends. In March, we hosted a 16th birthday party for one of our youth - 26 of her friends and 11 adults attended. It was exciting! A couple of weeks after the party, two youth asked to meet with me to share their vision for youth ministry. It included planning events for their friends, and developing a core of youth leaders who would lead connection/discipleship groups. From this meeting we planned and prepared two youth events: B.L.A.S.T. Momentum event on April 22nd with 23 youth and 4 adults attended and June 17th P.J. Event where 49 youth and 4 adults attended.
Our prayer emphasis since January is based on Isaiah 43:19
Isaiah 43:19 (NLT) – God says: For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
1. Eyes, minds and spirits - to see God’s new thing for LSCC that has already begun
2. Mission/ministry - that can serve the community so the building will be useful and we will be part of the community
3. Millennials – people under 40 to connect with their generation and their children
4. Musicians – musicians to lead praise and worship in our services and for youth events.
Our District Superintendent asked us to dream Jesus size dreams. Here are the Jesus Size Dreams for LSCC:
Church Building – for mission and ministry out of the building that will serve the community where the church is located and beyond. We are taking the Trinity Centres Foundation course to help us chart our course and have some idea of the shape of this mission/ministry over this next year.
Youth Ministry – our core youth leaders have a vision and a plan to reach their friends with God’s love and to engage them care and connection groups. We are praying for people under the age of 40 to join us in this ministry and mission. We want to continue to host events and start the connection/discipleship groups in September/October 2023.
Giving Birth at 93 – LSCC was organized 93 years ago. Like Abraham and Sarah, we are looking to God to birth something new in us and through us and for us before “this time next year” (Genesis 18:14)…
Your prayers and interest are very much appreciated. God bless you and keep you!
