WHEN LIFE FEELS HEAVY
(Psalms 46:10-11) Be still and know that I am God.
Are you exhausted this morning by financial pressure, rising food prices, joblessness, war, illness, anxiety, grief, or family struggles? You may feel overwhelmed because you are trying to carry everything on your own. But your instruction for today is simple: be still and let the Lord fight your battles.
“Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?” (Matthew 6:27). Worry is a cycle of unproductive thoughts centered on fear. It does not remove tomorrow’s sorrow; it drains today’s strength. Left unchecked, worry can push the heart toward restlessness and desperation.
You may have endured sleepless nights and seasons of feeling pressed, rejected, abandoned, or cast down. Yet in the middle of it all, you are still here clothed and in your right mind. Even when the enemy whispers that there are no hope and others seem to prosper without regard for God, do not lose heart. Like the psalmist, you may have felt like your footing almost slip (Psalm 73:2-4), but you are still standing and giving God glory.
Your heavenly Father knows exactly what you need. He has promised that the righteous will not be forsaken, nor their children be left begging for bread. He also reminds you, “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself” (Matthew 6:34).
Being still does not mean doing nothing. It means calming your heart, releasing your anxiety, and taking your hands off what only God can handle. Trust that He can do exceeding, abundantly above all you can ask or think.
The Lord has a sovereign purpose for your life, and He will work everything together for your good. He is in control; He sees you, and He cares for you deeply.
The battle is not yours; it belongs to the Lord.
