There's no school tomorrow so my kids are joining others in honoring Orange Shirt Day today, and we thought about Phyllis Jack Webstad this morning. That little girl whose favorite orange shirt was taken from her along with all of her personal belongings. Who spent 300 lonely sleeps at a residential school where Indigenous culture & children's feelings were ignored.

It's not ancient history. Phyllis is now 59 years old. We wear orange for her, for every survivor, & for those who didn't make it home.

Truth & Reconciliation Day is also a good impetus to read or re-read the 94 Calls to Action (Google brings it up first thing), to explore Indigenous art, music, books, or films ( Saskatoon Public Library is a great resource), to seek out Indigenous-owned businesses to shop, & to support organizations like NCTR or Saskatoon Community Foundation Fund for Reconciliation.

Important statement from the synod of Alberta. Organized evil (white supremacy) has never gone away.

Dear friends of the 2SLGBtQIA+ community, especially Lutheran Church of the Cross, Calgary and Pr Lindsey with their family, we stand with you in support, prayer and advocacy against hate and all that would harm God's welcome and affirmation. I'm thankful to be wearing this T-shirt today at LWF meetings, so that we are all reminded of our belovedness.
