Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord โ€“ Blessing of Fruit

On Sunday, August 9th, we celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ. As this feast falls during the harvest season, it has long been the Byzantine tradition to bring the first fruits of the harvest to church to be blessed.

The blessing of fruit reminds us that all good things come from God. Through this blessing, the fruits of the earth become more than nourishmentโ€”they are a visible sign of God's presence and His blessings in our lives. As the Transfiguration revealed Christ's divine glory, this tradition also points to the transformation of all creation through Him.

Parishioners are invited to bring fruit for the blessing at Divine Liturgy. Please place your fruit on the table that will be set up at the front of the church before the service.

Also, the Knights of Columbus will host their annual Watermelon Sunday following Divine Liturgy. All parishioners and guests are welcome.
