Council 6595 recently presented bursaries of $1,000 each to two Seminarians for the Diocese of Saint John, Joseph Desmond and Ryan Tapley, who are entering their 3rd year, with 5 more to go before ordination. The Knights of Columbus work closely to support our Parishes and their Priests; the Seminarians are our future. We are happy to assist them in their journey towards priesthood.

These bursaries are presented annually in memory of Fr. Paul Riley and Fr. Raymund Stack, both good friends of our Council.

On July 21 Grand Knight Art Boudreau presented Rob Cosman of Sleep in Heavenly Peace a cheque from our council for $ 2,250. Their mission is "No Kid Sleeps on the floor in our town". To this end they build beds for children in need. We are fortunate to have a local chapter doing work in our area. We have hopes that we can work with other Council's in our area to do some of the bed builds.

For more than three decades, the members of the Knights of Columbus Father Eugene O'Leary Council 6595 have quietly and consistently made a remarkable difference at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Recently, they awarded a cheque for $5,000 to support women in our region.

To date, they have donated more than $232,000 to the Foundation. What an incredible legacy!

Their generosity has helped with:

- Better patient care
- Enhanced diagnostic services
- Upgraded surgical equipment
- Increased patient comfort
- Contributions to our Annual Appeal.

Care doesn't just happen. It is built through kindness, generosity, and a community that believes in looking after one another.

On July 16 our Council presented the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation with a cheque for $ 5,000 towards the Father O'Leary Discretionary Health and Assistance Fund. This is a fund our council established several years ago and we contribute to it twice a year. It allows social workers at the hospital to provide funds to patients that may need a little help while undergoing treatments such as medications, supplementing of lost wages, transportation, etc. Our way of taking a bit of the burden off people in need of healthcare services.

On July 16 our Council presented Bobby's Hospice with a cheque for $ 2,500 as part of our ongoing support for the valuable service they provide to our community.

Founded in 1983, Bobby’s Hospice is a community-based residential hospice that provides 24-hour in-patient palliative care in a home-like environment. Their team is dedicated to providing compassionate palliative and grief support to our community, with compassion, dignity, and respect during life’s most vulnerable moments.

On July 16 our Council presented St. Joseph's Hospital with a cheque for $ 5,000 towards Breast Cancer Support. Since 1992 our Council has donated in excess of $ 232,000 to St. Joseph's Hospital with our latest efforts focused on diagnostic patient health and comfort supporting women in our region.

On July 16 our Council presented Operation Feed with a cheque for $ 2,500 as part of our ongoing commitment to support their efforts. Their mission is to feed the bellies of the most vulnerable, the children in our region that live in poverty, while also providing support and purpose for our regions veterans and first responders.

A big thank you to Father Eugene O’Leary 6595 Council of the Knights of Columbus for their $2500 donation to Rocmaura Foundation. These funds help support recreation activities and provide welcome baskets for every new resident when they arrive at Rocmaura. We are so grateful for their ongoing support to help make life better in our home away from home.

This year Council 6595 awarded 14 students with $1,000 bursaries for their continued education. At this past weekend's Council meeting we had the pleasure to meet seven of those recipients as we presented them with their cheques and a certificate honoring a past Grand Knight of our Council. Congratulations to all the recipients!

April 20, 2026: Today our Council delivered approximately 550 lbs. of canned and boxed food to Crescent Valley Pantry in the City's North End. This food was donated by Council members as part of our "40 Cans for Lent" program.
