Saint John Jewish Historical Museum The museum will be open by appointment only from November 7, 2022 to May 23, 2023. Visitors will also be able to see the Shaarei Zedek Synagogue.

Monday to Friday, 10 am to 4 pm, Sunday (July and August and cruise ship days), 1 pm to 4 pm The museum will reopen on May 23, 2023 through November 7, 2023 with regular hours from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm from Monday and Friday, additionally th

e doors will be open on Sunday afternoons from 1:00 to 4:00 pm during July and August. The feature exhibit for 2023 will be "Coming of Age: Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah Celebrations"" Additional exhibits are "From the Cradle to the Grave: Jewish Holy Days and Way of Life" and "Starting a New Life: Holocaust Survivors in New Brunswick". Museum admission fee of $5.00/adult or $10.00/family (2 parents and children up to age 16) . Appointments available for group tours, library research and education kits. Morris Cohen died on September 25, 1951 at the age of 78. He was the son of Hyman and Fannie Cohen and had two brothers and a sister. He was married to Rose Budovitch and they had four sons - Myer, Harry, Benjamin and Samuel - and three daughters - Bessie (Swetsky), Jennie (Greenberg) and Mary. Morris worked as a labourer.
Family connection: Lorie Cohen Hackett, Cathy Tait, Lee Cohen, Shelley Cohen-Thorley, Warren Cohen and Morton Cohen are his great-grandchildren (Morris – Myer – Jennie, Edgar and Israel H.) and his great-great grandson is Micah Tait

Anna Smith was born in Germany died on September 2, 1950. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Greenfield and had a brother. She met and married her husband Elias Smith in New York and they had four sons - Samson, Abraham, Ben and Norman - and a daughter Julia (married Ralph Isaacs). The family moved to Montreal after the death of their son, Samson drowned while on vacation there. Her son, Abraham, moved her and the rest of the family to Saint John after her husband died.

Bernard Flam died on September 13, 1973 in Chatham (Miramichi), NB. He was a son of Edward (Ned) and Gertrude Flam and had a sister, Anne. He married Nina and they had five daughters - Natalie, Trudy, Susan, Nancy and Agnes. He owned Flam’s Ltd. Household Furnishings in Chatham. He had been part of Chatham Town Council for twenty years. He had chaired numerous committees, was deputy mayor and had been mayor for two years at the time of his death. He had also been on the executive of the Progressive Conservative Party since 1958 and was an unsuccessful candidate in the 1968 federal election.
