Vincent de Paul Centre is an outreach ministry of the Cathedral Community. We believe:

In the value and dignity of each person;
In demonstrating respect for people regardless of their circumstances;
In providing care in a confidential, safe manner; and,
In treating each other with dignity and respect in carrying out our ministry. Our volunteers offer emergency material assistance through food, c

lothing and small household items. We also offer a weekly Parish Nursing service. In addition, our volunteers offer compassionate support through listening and direction to agencies and services that could provide assistance. Hours of Operation:

Monday: 1 - 3 p.m. Tuesday: 9:30 - 11:45 a.m. Wednesday: 1 - 3 p.m. Thursday: 9:30 - 11:45 a.m. Friday: Closed
Saturday: Closed
Sunday: Closed
Statutory holidays: Closed

Donations:

Non-Perishable Food Items - These items include:
- canned goods: milk; meat and fish, such as flakes of ham and tuna; vegetables such as corn, peas and carrots, mixed vegetables; soup such as vegetable, chicken noodle, tomato; baked beans; pasta such as alphagetti; pasta sauce.
- Kraft dinner; soda crackers; 1 liter boxes/bottles of apple juice; peanut butter; boxes of cereal; sugar; instant coffee; tea bags. Clothing - We accept clean clothing for men, women, youth and children above the age of two years. Besides regular clothing items, we also accept underwear, socks, pajamas, etc. Clothing should be free of stains, smoke, mildew and odors. Other - We also accept donations of:
- accessories for men and women, such as shoes, sneakers, scarves, belts, purses
- household goods such as dishes, cutlery, and kitchenware
- towels, washcloths, and bedding

We cannot accept items that are smoky, stained, chipped, cracked or have parts missing. When the Centre is closed, we respectfully request that donations not be left outside at the front door. Monetary Donations - The Centre gratefully accepts gifts of money. Cheques should be made out to St Vincent de Paul and may be mailed to 91 Waterloo St., Saint John, NB E2L 3P9. An income tax receipt will be provided to the donor.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL WEEK UPDATE - May 4th-8th, 2026

ITEMS NEEDED: Canned baked beans and bags of sugar. We would also appreciate donations of bedding including blankets, pillows, as well as towels and facecloths. Donations of men's and women's personal care items would also be appreciated. With the arrival of warmer weather we are no longer able to accept donations of winter clothing. However, we would appreciate donations of spring/summer clothing for men and women. As well, we do not accept donations of children's clothing or items used by them such as toys, books, etc.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL WEEK UPDATE - February 23rd-27th, 2026

ITEMS NEEDED: Canned vegetables (peas, peas & carrots, creamed corn, mixed vegetables), and flakes of ham. We would also appreciate donations of bedding, and towels/face cloths.

St. Vincent de Paul was open for 10 days during the month of January, during which 79 clients were served. 44 people received food, while 86 people received clothing items. Some people received both food and clothing during their visit.The majority of people served (47%) resided in the South-central peninsula of the city, 14% lived in the North end, 8% on the East side, 2% on the West side, 23% of individuals were unhoused, and 6% resided in the Coverdale Centre.

Please see the centre’s report for the month of December:

The Centre was open for 11 days and volunteers served 79 clients. Of those, 57 received food orders and 61 received clothing and/or household items. 43% of individuals lived in the South-Central peninsula; 14% lived in the North End of the city; 4% lived in the East side and 1% in the West side. 10% of visits were from residents of the Coverdale Centre. Unhoused individuals accounted for 28% of visits.
