June 7th, following the noon Mass at the rectory beside the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, all are invited to a drop-in reception for Fr. Lawrence Hyginus, CC in thanksgiving for his faithful ministry at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and to wish him well. While these days before he leaves are bittersweet as we celebrate in gratitude the immense love, dedication and care Fr. Lawrence has blessed all of us at the Cathedral with, we look forward, praying in anticipatory faith to the incredible ways God is going to work through him in his new appointment.
Share your “three tangible things to take home” you are going to miss or are grateful for about Father Lawrence below as we prepare “to land this plane”.

CORPUS CHRISTI EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION - All are invited to join us at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for the celebration of the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. On Sunday, June 7, immediately following the 10:00 a.m. Mass, a Eucharistic Procession will take place, proceeding prayerfully around the Cathedral block as a public witness to our faith in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. The procession will conclude with Benediction, followed by the 12:00 noon Mass celebrated by Bishop Riesbeck. “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever.” (John 6:51) All are welcome—come and be part of this beautiful expression of our Catholic faith.

Please note: in the event of inclement weather, the procession will take place inside the church.

The Cathedral’s own Patrick Giguere will give the next featured talk for the Catholic Speaker Series this coming Thursday, May 7th at 7:00 pm at St. Mark’s In Quispamsis and all are welcomed to attend.

This talk examines the history of the modern crisis of understanding the human person and presents St.
John Paul Il's personalism as the Church's response. It traces how Western thought-from the Reformation through the Enlightenment to modern psychology-has sought to answer questions of freedom, identity, and meaning. In these troubled adolescent years of mankind, we often gained real insights but also fell into confusion about what it means to be human.
Rather than rejecting these developments, the Catholic tradition-especially through Vatican Il and John Paul Il-brings them to fulfillment by offering a deeper vision: the human person is not self-defining, purely autonomous, or reducible to inner drives-nor an object to be used-but a subject called to truth, love, and self-gift.
At its heart, the talk proclaims that Christ reveals us to ourselves, showing that true freedom is found not in self-assertion, but in the gift of self-because this is how we are made in the image of the Trinity.
