What a meaningful and joyful way to celebrate Pentecost! Yesterday, Michael Bowyer, Doug Downey, Adedayo Olomodosi, and Kathy Thomas were ordained to the diaconate, the Reverend David Shumaker was ordained to the priesthood, and the Reverend Bradley Markus was received into the Anglican Communion.

It was standing room only, with over 400 people joining together to celebrate the next steps in their faithful ministry!

Today is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S), also known as Red Dress Day.

The symbol of the red dress is often displayed empty to signify those who are missing or no longer here. We honour the lives of Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people who have been lost to violence, and we hold in prayer their families, communities, and all who continue to carry grief.

We also acknowledge the painful truth that the Church has been complicit in systems that have harmed Indigenous peoples. This day of remembrance is a call for us to listen, to learn, and to commit ourselves to the ongoing work of justice, truth, and right relationship.
