As September begins and summer draws to a close we look back with gratitude. We had our first ever music camp where children learned some new songs, played some music and made new friends. Our annual pilgrimage once again brought people together for a time of worship, prayer & community. SAPY summer days were some of the sunniest days of the summer and youth were able to gather, nurturing old friendships and building some new. Just this past weekend, youth were invited to bring their backpacks to Mass for a special blessing, to begin the new school year.

As we bid farewell to summer, we welcome the new season with open arms, excited to see what's in store.

Happy Anniversary of Priesthood to Fr. Gordon!

Today, September 1, we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the priestly ordination of Rev. Gordon Anthony Cook, OMI.

Born in Winnipeg, Fr. Gordon was ordained to the priesthood on September 1, 1996, at St. Mary Parish in Prince George, B.C., by Bishop Gerald Wiesner, OMI.

For three decades, Fr. Gordon has faithfully answered Christ’s call to priestly ministry and service to the Church. He is now semi-retired and living at Foyer Lacombe in St. Albert.

Please join us in giving thanks to God for the gift of Fr. Gordon’s priestly vocation and in praying for him on this special anniversary.

Lord, send holy and generous men to serve Your Church as faithful priests. Grant them the courage to answer Your call and the perseverance to follow it with joy. Amen.

For 88 years, generations of Catholics have gathered at St. Albert’s Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto to honour Mary and celebrate the Feast of the Assumption.

What began as a cherished family pilgrimage continues today as a beautiful expression of faith, prayer and fellowship. This year, more than 800 people gathered for outdoor Mass, continuing a beloved tradition that has connected families and communities for generations.

May Mary, assumed body and soul into heaven, draw us ever closer to her Son and inspire us to live with faith and hope.

Today we celebrate the Feast Day of St. John Vianney. He is the Patron Saint of all Priests. On this special day, we remember with gratitude all our priests, especially those who faithfully serve our Parish.

We thank God for the gift of their priesthood—for their prayers, sacrifices, patience, guidance, and for the many ways they accompany us in both joyful and difficult moments.

Prayer for Priests:
God please give your Church today many more priests after your own heart.
May they be worthy representatives of Christ the Good Shepherd.
May they wholeheartedly devote themselves to prayer and penance; being examples of humility and poverty; shining models of holiness; tireless and powerful preachers of the Word of God; zealous dispensers of your grace in the sacraments.
May their loving devotion to your Son Jesus in the Eucharist and to Mary his Mother be the twin fountains of fruitfulness for their ministry.
Amen.

Gabriel Castillo is a Catholic speaker, filmmaker, author, and founder of True Faith TV. Through his talks and media ministry, he encourages people to deepen their faith and discover the beauty and power of the Rosary.

The flowers in the Grotto and Mary's Garden are in full bloom! Both spaces provide a great opportunity to slow down and literally smell the roses this summer.

Our Summer Music Camp is the perfect opportunity for children ages 5–13 to explore their musical talents in a fun, encouraging, and faith-filled environment!
From July 20–24, campers will enjoy five exciting days of hands-on music-making, learning, and friendship. Whether your child is picking up an instrument for the first time or already has some musical experience, everyone is welcome—no prior training or skill is required. The only prerequisite is a love of music and a willingness to learn!
Throughout the week, campers will explore solo and choral singing, piano, Orff instruments, ensemble playing, ear training, sight-reading, and music theory through engaging activities led by passionate instructors. They'll build confidence, develop new skills, and experience the joy of creating music together.
The week concludes with a special celebration as our young musicians share their gifts by providing music for the 11:00am Mass on Sunday, July 26. It's a wonderful opportunity for our parish community to support and celebrate their accomplishments.
