Word from the Pastor

This week’s theme is God Saves. Specifically that He gives us a way to remember that He saves us. Our Old Testament reading from Exodus contains the instructions from the Lord to Moses on how to prepare and keep the Passover of the LORD, a day set apart as a day of remembrance of God saving Israel while executing judgement on Egypt. The “Pass Over” of the Death Angel that became the Passover Meal, that became the Lord’s Supper that became The Bread and Wine of Communion which points to The Wedding Supper of the Lamb. The more I read on “Passover” and the detailed customs and rituals of this special day, the more I understand the awe that is God saving and having an intimate relationship with creation, and all of us.

Word from the Pastor

This week’s theme is "God comes down." In Exodus, God calls Moses at the burning bush to risk himself in love by leading Israel out of oppression. In Romans, Paul describes a community whose genuine love overcomes evil with good even when it is costly. And in Matthew’s gospel, Jesus walks the way of the cross and calls His disciples to follow Him in self-denying, costly love. All the verses in this RCL theme talk about God coming down. And He must; there is no other way we can know Him unless He reveals Himself to us. What a privilege to be able to meet and know your maker!

Word From the Pastor

This week we have the privilege of hearing from a long-time elder who has served in Wetaskiwin. Jeanette Engblom brings with her many years of faithful service to the Wetaskiwin fellowship, as well many years of service in various seniors lodges. Her topic on Paul’s Reflections of the Human Heart is a very heartfelt message from one of our best leaders in the faith. Jeanette watches faithfully online and it will be a delight to hear her message to us.

Word from the Pastor

This week we get to enjoy our car show. I hope all of those, that are able, will be able join us for a fun-filled day of worship, hot dog lunch, bouncy castle and welcoming many car enthusiasts that will show up in our parking lot. Gerry and I were at the Rock-n-August Car Show last Saturday and handed out many invites. It was nice to see how much care and attention the good old ladies and gents have put into their cars. I even met a family where each kids had a car to show off. Our passage this week talks about Jesus bringing outsiders to the table of mercy. We are all under grace as our Lord offeres us a way out of our sinful lives. Hope to see you on Sunday!

Word from the Pastor

This week we look at the amazing time that Jesus walked on water. Now we know that is not humanly possible, yet it’s recorded in scripture and not only Jesus did it, but Peter too. What I would’n't give to see that experience first hand, but with the trustworthy gospel message, we are given a front row to this amazing feat. This not only proves that Jesus was someone very special it proves His power over creation, and His sovereignty. During the sermon time I will go through my learnings from our Dallas conference. The theme was Kingdom Living, and we are able to live the Kingdom now. Many of the presenters shared the good news of “King Jesus”. He is King now, and we can have access to Him now through prayers, study and in communion. This reality along with our scripture reading of this week should give confidence in a darkened world, full of storms and strife. We can look to King Jesus to rescue us.

This week we have an update on how the Faith, Hope and Love Avenues are going. Thanks so much to the Avenue champions and their assistants. I will also share a short video of our first ever Kids Day Camp at GCI St. Albert. Our text for this week affirms our relationship with Jesus and that He is faithful to the end.
