As you are aware, wildfires are ravaging our province. I heard on the news this morning that over 9,000 people have been evacuated from their homes.
Jesus named loving our neighbours as ourselves as the first commandment. How would you want to be cared for if you were forced to flee your home?
The Canadian Red Cross is at the forefront of the evacuation efforts. Currently, all donations given to the Saskatchewan Wildfire Appeal are matched by both the provincial and federal governments, thereby tripling any donations made. Please consider giving generously - you can find a link in the comments below.
There are also local opportunities to support the evacuation center that has been established at Beardy's & Okemasis Cree Nation. They are in need of volunteers to assist with cooking, janitorial work, and security.
Donations of clothing are also needed. Here in Rosthern, you can drop off clothing donations at Prairie Cove Business Center (122 1 Ave, Rosthern, the old medical clinic). Men's clothing is the biggest need at this time.
Thank you in advance for your generosity for those facing these very difficult circumstances.
kahkiyaw kitatamiskatinawaw,
We greet you all in a good way and extend our thanks to the members of the Beardy's & Okemasis' Nation for their support and that of the surrounding communities - we are now at a point where we are asking for the your help in soliciting donations of clothing for men -- all ages, all sizes, but also, *new* underwear for all genders/sizes/styles.
You can drop off your donations at the Beardy's Seniors Hall (Blue Building beside the Justice Building).
Reminder - we are not asking for additional items at this time (no 20 year old ceramic cat collections please 😉😂).
We thank you for your continued support as we host wildfire evacuees from across Northern Saskatchewan.
