We visited the literacy class on the 20th to celebrate their accomplishments, and then Christine spoke to hundreds of orphans and women and she, Jannie, and P. Sammy prayed with many women together. Then the team visited another local church. Ying and myself were sick that day after the literacy class so we didn't attend the conferences that day. The next day we returned to Kampala as scheduled, after 6 days in Kyaka. Please continue to pray for the refugees in Kyaka as the needs are so great and pray for the team members' health as most of us got sick at some point and recovery can take awhile.

We did discipleship conferences at the churches in Kyaka as well, visiting 3 different churches. At one of them, we distributed the clothes we had collected, organized by the teacher of the literacy class. The church was smaller so we had a steady stream of people coming in and going out for hours, but we were able to maintain order despite some squabbles as new clothes are very exciting, but do not generate crowds as quickly as food. Lord God, help the needy and save the refugees from starvation. Use your people.

As mentioned before, the food distribution in Kyaka with a local partner church was very busy. The team purchased 50 * 25kg sacks of rice, 20 * 20L of cooking oil, and 2 sacks of beans that were over 120 kg per sack. We did the math to be able to distribute to 400 families (every family was encouraged to only send up one person), but the need was understandably very great, and as mentioned before we had to end early due to the crowds to keep the peace, after having served 338 families. We distributed the remainder much more quietly before leaving Kyaka.

The days were quite long, visiting one church conference and then another, both of which went overtime, and visiting a school on the 13th as well. While we had initially planned for a day of rest on Tuesday 14th before traveling to the refugee camp of Kyaka II, some extra missions opportunities came up that day, and we found ourselves leaving in the morning and returning to the guest house after 8pm again, then packing up on the 15th to make the trip to Kyaka.

All of the churches we visited were churches of refugees, mostly from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, so when we were sharing, translation from English into Swahili and sometimes French was very necessary. P. Sammy was quite happy to introduce us to churches he has visited and told about Canada many times over the past several years.

We were joined by P. Sammy's nephew for the duration of the trip. He helped us with many things including translation, finding local supplies/drivers, and doing the majority of the photography/videography.
