Over 25% of people in Canada report they have some type of disability. This is no different for the church. We have people with physical, emotional, mental, and cognitive disabilities enter our doors weekly.

The purpose of an AccessAbility week is to remind us to recognize:
• the valuable contributions and leadership of persons with disabilities in our midst
• the work of allies, organizations and communities that are removing barriers (including churches)
• the ongoing efforts to become a more accessible and disability-inclusive place for people to participate fully

Prayer

Father, thank you for creating ALL of us in your image.
You welcome us all to celebrate and enjoy being part of your family.

Thank you for those who move differently
Thank you for those who see differently
Thank you for those who think differently
Thank you for those who feel differently

As they teach about our world,
give us ears to hear them
and eyes to see as they see.

Father, you give diversity in your Creation,
open our eyes to see it everywhere.
Help us notice the diversity also expressed
in the amazing humanity that represents you!

Lord, help us to celebrate the strengths
of those who may do things differently.

Lord, help us to continue to work to remove the barriers
for those who struggle to flourish.

Lord, help us to make our spaces more inclusive
for all who desire to be with us.

We pray for those who still feel unheard or unseen
that we will begin to celebrate the gifts they bring to our community.
Open our eyes to see them and what they can bring.

We pray for those who cannot be in our midst
often due to pain or fatigue.
Help us not to forget them.

We pray for those who have difficulties moving
and miss opportunities we take for granted.
Help us to make their paths easier to participate.

We pray for those who struggle to communicate—
their joys, ideas, feelings, or concerns—as language is difficult.
Help us take the time to listen.

We pray for those who experience depression
or mental health challenges
that inhibit their participation in the church.
May we continue to extend grace and compassion.

Lord, help us to break down barriers to ALL
who come to your table
to celebrate what you have done in Jesus.

Amen.

June 2, 2026 | Community Meal at Peace Mennonite Church

Dinner's on us.
Come. Eat. Connect.
We are pleased to provide the venue for you, your family, and neighbours to gather in a safe and friendly environment. Around here you will hear English, Cantonese, Farsi, German, Hindi, Mandarin, Punjabi, Tagalog, and Spanish and many other languages and you will see a variety of flags from around the world on our wall. (If you don't see yours, let us know and we'll see what we can do!)
So come, hang out, and meet new friends. It doesn't matter whether you've been in the neighborhood a long or short time, whether you know your community very well or not, or whether you're visiting Richmond. You are welcome.

May 31, 2026 | Resurrection Affirms — A New Heaven & New Earth Are Coming
Revelation 21:1–6a, 22–27 (NIV)

This Sunday we conclude our resurrection series and reflect on Revelation’s breathtaking vision of God’s promised future — a new heaven and new earth where God dwells fully with humanity and makes all things new. Jesus’ resurrection affirms that this future is real: not abandonment, but the renewal and restoration of creation.

Revelation also offers a beautiful picture of the nations bringing their treasures into the city of God — not closed borders, but the diversity of peoples, cultures, and gifts being welcomed and celebrated in God’s kingdom.

In Christ, the life of the world to come has already begun, and our worship becomes a foretaste of that coming reality. The question before us is this: How should this future vision shape the way we live now? How do we become a people who reflect the future God has revealed?

The past week, we saw that Jesus' resurrection confirms:
We have a great King—with the power to act.
and a great High Priest—with a heart that cares.

Here is the prayer we prayed:

Lord Jesus Christ,
you know each of us
by name.

You see the burdens we carry,
the worries we hold,
and the unspoken cares
we bring into this moment.

Thank you
that you stand forever
before the throne of God above,
interceding for us
with compassion, mercy,
and grace as our great High Priest.

Remind us, O Lord,
that we are not hidden from you,
but are seen in our weakness,
heard in our prayers,
and held fast in your steadfast love.

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayers again.

Grant healing
to our hurting bodies.

Bring hope
where there is uncertainty.

Give us wisdom
where we need guidance.

Remove obstacles
we cannot overcome ourselves.

Speak peace
to our anxious souls—
your peace
which surpasses all understanding.

Hold us close,
even when your presence feels far.

Renew and restore us
with the assurance
of your personal presence
in and through all things.

And, Lord,
keep us firmly rooted
in this unshakable truth:
that in you
we are always seen
always heard
always loved.

In your beautiful name, we pray,
Lord Jesus.
Amen.

May 17, 2026 | Resurrection Affirms — Our King & High Priest, Alive Forever
Acts 1:6–11 & Hebrews 7:14–25 (CEB)

This Sunday we celebrate Jesus’ ascension following his resurrection, and together they give us deep confidence and real comfort: they affirm that Jesus is our risen King, seated at God’s right hand in power and authority forever, and our High Priest, alive forever and interceding for us (Heb. 7:25). We will lean into both of these pictures as a source of comfort and hope this Sunday—especially Jesus as our High Priest, who continues to carry us into God’s presence. What a powerful picture: a King with the authority to act, and a Priest with the heart to care.

Today we pray for the murdered and missing indigenous women across Canada.

“Pray for the families wretched by Sorrow.
Pray for the women whose fates sicken.
Pray for the healing.
Pray men join us.
Return to my seat, arms
Filled with gifts.”

At our previous Breakfast Church, we heard a heartfelt and powerful testimony of how the Lord rescued our Afghan friends—bringing them out of darkness into light, both spiritually in coming to Christ and physically in their escape from their homeland and resettlement in Canada.

We’d like to invite you to join us in prayer as we declare our faith in God’s goodness and love. May this bring you comfort and renewed hope.

Gracious and merciful God of love
Thank you for your relentless love
that finds us wherever we are
and draws us into your family
through faith in your Son, Jesus Christ.

Compassionate and caring God of light
Thank you for bringing us out of the darkness
and into your glorious light,
and for transforming our hearts and lives
by the power of your Spirit.

Mysterious and surprising God of grace
Thank you for meeting us in unexpected ways
and in life’s anxious moments;
open our eyes to see you at work in our lives
and our hearts to receive your grace even now.

Faithful and mighty God of power
Thank you for hearing our prayers
and for bringing help and rescue in times of need.

Give us grateful hearts that trust in your guiding hand,
and fill us with your presence and peace.

In Jesus’ name we pray.
Amen.
