Sermon Recap Guide

Ephesians 6:10–20 – The Finale
June 7, 2026

Key Truth

Faith is not merely a decision we make; faith is the life we live and walk every day.

Paul’s final challenge in Ephesians is not “we finally made it,” but rather:

“From now on, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.”

Main Points

1. The Lord’s Strength (Ephesians 6:10-13)

We are not called to fight spiritual battles in our own strength.

* The battle is real.
* The enemy is real.
* Our strength comes from Christ alone.

Reflection Question:
Where am I relying on my own strength instead of God’s strength?

Key Verse:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:13

2. Stand Firm in the Whole Armor of God (Ephesians 6:14-17)

God provides everything we need to stand firm.

Belt of Truth

Keeps us grounded in God’s truth.

Ask Yourself:
Am I fastening my life to God’s truth daily?

Breastplate of Righteousness

Protects our hearts.

Ask Yourself:
What am I allowing into my heart that weakens my walk with Christ?

Shoes of Gospel Readiness

Keep us prepared to share the peace of Jesus.

Ask Yourself:
Who needs to hear the hope of the Gospel from me this week?

Shield of Faith

Protects us from the enemy’s attacks.

The sermon used the acronym D.A.R.T.S.

* D – Doubt
* A – Accusation
* R – Rationalization
* T – Temptation
* S – Self

Ask Yourself:
Which dart is the enemy most often using against me?

Helmet of Salvation

Protects our minds with the assurance of God’s saving grace.

Ask Yourself:
Do I live with confidence in my salvation?

Sword of the Spirit

The Word of God is our offensive weapon.

Ask Yourself:
How am I consistently engaging with Scripture?

3. Be Constant in Prayer (Ephesians 6:18-20)

Prayer is not the last resort; it is the primary weapon.

Paul calls believers to:

✅ Pray continually

✅ Pray together

✅ Pray confidently

Remember:

The power is not in our prayers. The power is in the God who hears them.

Reflection Question:
How can I become more consistent in prayer this week?

Discussion Questions

1. What stood out to you most from this week’s message?
2. Why do you think Paul emphasizes God’s strength rather than our own?
3. Which piece of the armor do you currently wear well?
4. Which piece of the armor needs more attention in your life?
5. Which of the enemy’s “DARTS” do you struggle with most?
6. How has prayer helped you stand firm during difficult seasons?
7. What does it mean to be an ambassador for Christ in your everyday life?

Personal Application

This week I will:

☐ Spend time daily in God’s Word

☐ Pray consistently throughout the day

☐ Identify and resist one “dart” the enemy commonly uses against me

☐ Share the hope of the Gospel with someone

☐ Trust God’s strength instead of my own

Final Challenge

Paul closes Ephesians by reminding believers that we are ambassadors of Christ.

The question is not simply:

“Did I make it through today?”

The question is:

“Did I live today as a representative of Jesus Christ?”

Prayer

Father, thank You for giving us strength through Christ. Help us put on the whole armor of God, stand firm against the enemy, remain constant in prayer, and faithfully represent Jesus wherever we go. May we choose repentance over repetition, faith over fear, and Your strength over our own. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Hey all! It has been quite a while since I sent out an email. I hope you all had an awesome week. My wife has been leading a mission trip in Guatemala, so for most of the week I have just been dad.

Christ is our Living Hope!

Paul models a deep, intentional prayer life—not surface-level “thoughts and prayers,” but prayer that is humble, specific, and full of expectation.

Big Idea

Prayer is not casual or vague—it is a humble approach to God, marked by specific spiritual requests and confident expectation in His power.

1. Pray Properly (Posture & Perspective)

Paul says, “I bow my knees…”—a posture of humility and reverence.
• Prayer begins with adoration, not requests
• It’s directed to the Father, who is:
• Sovereign over all creation
• Rich in glory
• Powerful through His Spirit

Key Insight:
Prayer is not rushing through a list—it’s relating to a sovereign, powerful, personal God.

Reflection Questions
• Do I approach prayer with humility or hurry?
• Do I start with adoration or requests?
• Am I praying out of faith or fear?

2. Pray Specifically (Not “Umbrella Prayers”)

Paul gives four clear prayer requests:

(1) Inner Spiritual Strength
• Strength comes from the Holy Spirit within
• Needed to withstand spiritual battles (doubt, fear, temptation)

Reflect:
• Where do I feel spiritually weak right now?

(2) Deep, Rooted Faith
• Christ should dwell (reside) in our hearts—not visit occasionally
• Faith is not a moment—it’s a lifestyle

Reflect:
• Is my faith stable or situational?
• Does Christ feel at home in my life, or just present sometimes?

(3) Personal Knowledge of Christ’s Love
• His love surpasses knowledge
• It’s not just understood—it’s experienced

Reflect:
• Do I truly believe Jesus loves me—even in my failures?
• Am I growing in love for others because of His love?

(4) Fullness of God
• Not partial growth—complete spiritual fullness
• Living fully in His presence, power, and purpose

Reflect:
• Is my goal spiritual fullness, or just “getting by” spiritually?

3. Pray Expectantly (Faith in God’s Power)

Paul ends with praise:

God is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think

• God’s power is:
• Active (at work within us)
• Unlimited (beyond our imagination)
• Prayer should be filled with confidence, not doubt

Key Insight:
We don’t just pray—we expect God to move.

Reflection Questions
• Do I truly believe God can answer my prayers?
• Where have I stopped expecting God to work?
• Am I trusting God’s power or my own effort?

Discussion Guide (Group or Family)

Opening
• What stood out most to you from this message?

Digging Deeper
1. Why do you think we tend to pray general, vague prayers?
2. Which of the four prayer areas do you need most right now?
3. What does it look like practically to let Christ “dwell” in your heart?

Application
• What is one specific prayer you can begin praying daily this week?
• How can you shift your prayer life to be:
• More humble
• More specific
• More expectant

Weekly Challenge

This week, pray daily using Paul’s pattern:
1. Adoration – Acknowledge who God is
2. Specific Requests – Pray for:
• Inner strength
• Deep faith
• Knowledge of His love
• Fullness of God
3. Expectation – Thank God in advance for His work
