CAMP SUNDAY

June 18, 2023

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

GATHERING

Camp songs or campfire songs are a category of folk music traditionally sung around a campfire for entertainment. They are typically meant to get campers excited for the day or week, or just the morning –like us! as singing together breaks “ kids” out of their shells.

SONG: You Are My Sunshine

P+: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the Communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. C: and also with you!

Let us pray together: Prayer of the day: We rise today, through The strength of heaven, The light of the sun, The radiance of the moon, The splendor of fire, The speed of lightning, The swiftness of wind, The depth of the sea, The stability of the earth, and the firmness of rock. We rise today Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity, Through belief in the Threeness, Through confession of the Oneness of the Creator of creation. Amen.

Many of you have never visited Camp Lutherlyn, so we have a video of the camp in action.

WORD

First Reading: Genesis 1:vs11- 19

Psalm 148:1- 13 1 Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights!
2 Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his host!

3 Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars!
4 Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens!

5 Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he commanded and they were created.
6 He established them for ever and ever; he fixed their bounds, which cannot be passed.[a]

7 Praise the Lord from the earth, you sea monsters and all deeps,
8 fire and hail, snow and frost, stormy wind fulfilling his command!

9 Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars!

10 Wild animals and all cattle, creeping things and flying birds!

11 Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth!
12 Young men and women alike, old and young together!

13 Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted;
his glory is above earth and heaven.

Easter Message from ELCIC & The Anglican Church of Canada

LIGHTING OF THE CHRIST CANDLE

Prayer of the day: O God, you gave your only Son to suffer death on the cross for our redemption, and by his glorious resurrection you delivered us from the power of death. Make us die every day to sin, that we may live with him forever in the joy of the resurrection, through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Gathering Hymn 365 - Jesus Christ is Risen Today

WORD

First Reading: Acts 10:34 – 43

Psalm: 118:1-2, 14-24

1Give thanks to the Lord, for the Lord is good; God’s mercy endures forever.

2Let Israel now declare, “God’s mercy endures forever.”

14The Lord is my strength and my song, and has become my salvation.

15Shouts of rejoicing and salvation echo in the tents of the righteous:

“The right hand of the Lord acts valiantly!

16The right hand of the Lord is exalted! The right hand of the Lord acts valiantly!”

17I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.

18The Lord indeed punished me sorely, but did not hand me over to death.

19Open for me the gates of righteousness; I will enter them and give thanks to the Lord.

20“This is the gate of the Lord; here the righteous may enter.”

21I give thanks to you, for you have answered me and you have become my salvation.

22The stone that the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.

23By the Lord has this been done; it is marvelous in our eyes. 24This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
