The Feast of the Creator opens the Season of Creation with worship that turns attention to God’s work in creation. Rooted for centuries in Orthodox tradition, the feast has become the focus of a wider ecumenical movement, embraced by many churches seeking a shared liturgical expression of God as Creator.

On Wednesday, August 27, part of a glacier collapsed in the Himalayas, triggering catastrophic flooding along the Nepal-Tibet border.

At least 330 people have been confirmed dead, while thousands are missing across Nepal and China’s Tibet.

Alongside Hope will continue to stay in contact with partners in Nepal. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Nepal and everyone affected by this flash flood and mudslide.

Today we celebrate the feast of Saint Mary the Virgin, the Mother of Jesus Christ. She responded to God’s call with praise and humility, and gave the Son of God his human life.

O Lord, may we one day share in the glory of your eternal kingdom alongside your Blessed Mother, whose ‘yes’ brought the Son incarnate into the world.
