Bishop Helen is pleased to announce two new clergy appointments in the Diocese of Qu’Appelle.

The Reverend Michael Lyons has been appointed Incumbent of St Mary’s, Regina, in the St Chad Archdeaconry.

Michael will begin his ministry at St Mary’s in August. He brings with him gifts for parish ministry, pastoral care, worship, and community engagement, together with experience and perspective from outside the Diocese of Qu’Appelle.

This appointment marks an important new chapter in the life of St Mary’s, and we give thanks for all who have shared in the process of prayer, discernment, and preparation. Please pray for Michael, for the people of St Mary’s, and for all who will help support this transition in the coming months.

Bishop Helen is also pleased to announce that the Reverend Louis Harris has been appointed Incumbent of St Aidan’s Anglican Church, Moose Jaw.

Louis will begin his ministry at St Aidan’s in November. He comes to the Diocese of Qu’Appelle with experience and perspective from outside the Diocese, and with gifts for priestly ministry, parish leadership, preaching, education and formation, pastoral care, and the building up of Christian community.

This appointment represents a hopeful and significant step for St Aidan’s as the parish prepares for its next season of worship, service, and growth. Please pray for Louis and his family, for the people of St Aidan’s, and for a joyful and faithful beginning to this new ministry.

We give thanks for both of these appointments and for the gifts Michael and Louis will bring to our common life. As they prepare to take up their new ministries, may they be strengthened by the Holy Spirit, warmly welcomed by their new parish communities, and supported by the prayers of the whole Diocese.

Details of their licensing services and first Sunday services will follow in due course.

In Luke’s Gospel, Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth after learning that the two of them are pregnant at the same time: Mary with the Messiah himself, and Elizabeth already six months pregnant with John the Baptist. When the two women greet each other, the child in Elizabeth’s womb leaps with joy in witness to his cousin Jesus.

Almighty Creator, our love of You is innate to who we are. Help us to proclaim the greatness of your name in all we do.
