When the Israelites followed Moses into the desert, they didn't know what awaited them. God showed them His faithfulness time and time again as He provided for all their needs. It wasn't long after they crossed the Red Sea that they were back to being ungrateful, unbelieving and impatient. Somehow they quickly forgot about all that God had done for them and didn't wait for His counsel or His guidance.

How often do we behave in the same way? Is our gratitude and devotion as short lived as the Israelites? Are we willing to trust that God will continue to provide for us even when the road is hard and unknown?

May we have eyes to see all that God has done for us in the past and may we never forget that He is deserving of our thanks. Though there will be seasons where we can't see all that God is doing, may we continue to trust that He knows our circumstances and our needs. And that He will guide and strengthen us in His wisdom.

One year ago today, Archbishop Shane Parker was installed as our fifteenth Primate. In thanksgiving for his ministry, we pray:

Good and gracious God, we thank you for your servant Shane. Hold him in your care and sustain him through all that this ministry asks of him. As he continues in this calling, may he know he does not walk alone, but is held by your grace and by the prayers of the Church. Amen.
