This Sunday, Pastor Denise Snyder shared how Jesus gave Peter, James, and John a glimpse of His glory before they faced the difficult road ahead. Following Jesus wasn’t going to be easy, and He wanted them to have something to hold on to when things became challenging.

We need that reminder, too. There will be times when following Jesus feels difficult, when we feel weary or discouraged, or when we wonder if it’s worth continuing. In those moments, we can remember who Jesus is, what He has shown us, and the promises we can trust. Just as Peter looked back on what he had witnessed to encourage others who were struggling, we can hold on to the truth about Jesus when we need strength to keep going.

Whatever you’re facing today, let the truth of who Jesus is remind you that He is worth following, even when the road ahead is hard.

What a full Sunday together at CrossRoads!

Pastor Denise Snyder continued our "Unexpected: The Gospel of Mark" series, sharing about the moment Jesus revealed more of who He truly is to His disciples. We were reminded that when life gets hard, we can hold on to who Jesus is and trust Him to help us keep going. We were also encouraged that becoming more like Jesus is a process, and the Holy Spirit helps us grow along the way.

While groups met and people connected throughout the church, we also hosted our Local Impact Fair! We were glad to welcome agencies from across Central Alberta who shared how they care for people in our communities and how we can get involved in loving and supporting others. Thank you to Central Alberta Pregnancy Care Centre, Shalom Counselling Centre, Your Thriving Family, The Mustard Seed, Sendero Centre, Aspire Child Development Centre, Red Deer Dream Centre, Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre, The Broom Tree Foundation, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Red Deer and District for being part of the day!

As followers of Jesus, we're called to be His hands and feet and to let His light shine wherever we go. Whether we're at home, at work, at school, or out in our community, we have opportunities to show others His love. Our mission field isn't somewhere we have to travel to find; it's right where God has placed us.

What a great reminder that we can make a difference by loving and serving the people around us!

Are His words changing the way you live?

It’s easy to focus on building a good life, reaching our goals, and trying to make our lives better. But Jesus calls us to something different. In Mark 8, Jesus teaches that when we try to hold on to our lives and make them great on our own terms, we miss what it means to truly live. Instead, He calls us to surrender our lives to Him and follow His example of serving others.

Following Jesus is about more than hearing His words. It’s about letting them shape our priorities, our choices, and the way we treat the people around us. Are you really listening to Jesus, and are His words changing the way you live?

What if following Jesus means letting go of the very things we’re working so hard to hold on to?

In Mark 8:34, Jesus challenges us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him. It’s a call to stop making life all about our own plans, success, and what we want to achieve.

As Pastor Jordon Cavanaugh shared this weekend, the life we’re searching for isn’t found in trying to make ourselves great. It’s found when we give our lives to Jesus and begin living for something bigger than ourselves.

Following Jesus changes what we live for, and how we choose to live each day.

This Thanksgiving weekend, we were blessed to welcome not one, but two of our amazing global ministry partners!

Along with Clémence and Krystel from Murika Development Partners (formerly World Relief Rwanda), we also welcomed Marc Honorat from Haiti ARISE for a visit, meeting, and video interview. These conversations help us stay connected with the incredible work God is doing through our partners around the world, and they’re part of the preparation for this year’s Compassion Christmas Campaign.

We’re grateful for these partnerships and the opportunity to be part of bringing hope and compassion to communities around the world!
