๐พ THE STONY GROUND: NO ROOT
The Seed and the Soil โ Part 3
Luke 8:13 (KJV)
โThey on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.โ
Not everything that begins with excitement ends with genuine faith.
In the parable of the sower, Jesus describes seed falling upon rocky ground. It begins to grow, but without sufficient moisture and deep roots, it soon withers away.
Jesus explains that some people hear God's Word and receive it with joy. They may be excited about Christianity, attend church, or even make a profession of faith. But when trials and difficulties come, they fall away.
The problem is not that they lost their salvation, but that their faith had no root.
There is a difference between being emotionally moved by the Gospel and genuinely trusting Jesus Christ as your Saviour.
John 3:3 (KJV)
โJesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.โ
Salvation is not simply an emotional experience, a religious decision, or a temporary commitment. It is being born again through faith in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins, was buried, and rose again.
Ephesians 2:8 (KJV)
โFor by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:โ
A genuine believer may struggle, stumble, or face seasons of spiritual weakness, but salvation rests upon Jesus Christ, not our ability to remain faithful.
