The Meaning of the Image of Divine Mercy 🙏

The origin of the Image of Divine Mercy dates back to the vision St. Faustina Kowalska had of Jesus in Plock, Poland, on February 22, 1931. In that revelation, Christ asked her to have an image painted according to what she saw and to have the words "Jesus, I trust in You" written at the bottom.

Years later, the Polish painter Adolf Hyła created one of the paintings that became particularly famous due to the many graces received by those who venerated it. This representation of Merciful Jesus, with rays emanating from His Heart, is the most widely known in the world today.

In this way, the desire expressed by God to St. Faustina was fulfilled: that this image be venerated first in her chapel and then throughout the world, serving as a permanent reminder of His love and mercy.

Today, the Church recalls our Lord Jesus Christ proclaiming in the synagogue: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me… to bring glad tidings to the poor… to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord” (Is 61:1–2; Lk 4:18–19). And He declares with authority, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing” (Lk 4:21).

This mission reaches its fullness in the Upper Room. Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end: He humbly washed their feet and gave them the new commandment of love (Jn 13:1–34).

On that holy night, as He was betrayed, Christ instituted the Most Holy Eucharist—the memorial of His Passion, Death, and Resurrection—and commanded His apostles, “Do this in memory of me,” thereby establishing the priesthood.

Lord Jesus, on this Holy Thursday, renew in us a deep love for the Eucharist and a reverence for the priesthood. Teach us to serve with humility, as You have shown us. Amen.

On this Holy Thursday, we pause to remember the Last Supper — a moment of love, humility, and service.

May we be inspired to follow Jesus’ example by showing kindness, compassion, and grace to those around us. As we enter this sacred time, may our hearts be filled with gratitude and reflection.

“Love one another as I have loved you.” John 13:34

The angel Gabriel was sent by God to Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to Joseph: "Greetings, favoured one! The Lord is with you." Mary pondered, then replied with her eternal fiat: "Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word."

This humble "yes" announced the Incarnation — the Word made flesh for our salvation — fulfilling Isaiah's prophecy: the young woman is with child and shall bear a son... Immanuel (Isa 7:14; 8:10).

Pause today: Pray the Angelus, echo Mary's trust, and let God enter your life anew. 🙏

The Annunciation reminds us that God entered the world through the humble “yes” of the Virgin Mary. Through her obedience, the Word became flesh and salvation began.

Today, we honor the moment when heaven touched earth.
