The Mission of the Orthodox Church in America, the local autocephalous Orthodox Church, is to be faithful in fulfilling the commandment of Christ to “Go into all the world and make disciples of all Nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all [things that He has] commanded” so that all people may be saved and come to the kno

wledge of the truth:

To preach, in accordance with God’s will, the fullness of the gospel of the Kingdom to the peoples of North America and to invite them to become members of the Orthodox Church. To utilize for her mission the various languages of the peoples of this continent. To be the body of Christ in North America and to be faithful to the tradition of the Holy Orthodox Church. The Archbishop, in consultation with the Archdiocesan Council, has decided that it is prudent to cancel the Archdiocesan Assembly this summer. The uncertainty makes continuing to move forward with plans for this event too tentative to be worth the process.

By giving this much notice, we hope that this will make it easier for early registrants to cancel their flights and accommodations and apply for refunds as necessary.

Please convey this information to an delegates and visitors and guests who you know who were planning to attend.

The future dates for our Assembly will be provided once the state of the world makes such plans viable.

May the Lord protect you and your communities!

Vladyka Irénée has blessed an all-Canada prayer service to be held online via the Zoom app this Friday at 7pm Eastern time. The Akathist and Small Compline will be served by Vladyka, Fr Geoffrey Ready, and a small choir. This is a much-needed opportunity for all of us in Canada to join together in prayer and ask the Mother of God for her protection during this very challenging time. Please invite your faithful to be a part of this beautiful service (we can accommodate up to 10,000 participants). The intention is to continue this common prayer effort together at least a few more Fridays during Great Lent. We may be “self-isolated” but we are united as the Body of Christ.

Most Holy Theotokos Save Us!

NB: A PDF of the service will be posted here by Friday.
