Camp Pagweak

Camp Pagweak is a Baptist Youth Camp located in Pugwash, Nova Scotia It is owned by 31 churches in the Cumberland, Colchester-Pictou Associations.

"Pagweak" is taken from the word "Pugwash" which is Mi'Kmaq for "Deep Water" and "Shallow Water"

Camp Pagweak is located in West Pugwash off of Highway 6.

Program Spotlight: APEX

Early adolescence is where young people's gifts and passions really begin to bloom, and we believe camp provides a supportive environment unlike any other for that self-discovery to unfold.

In Apex, campers will experience camp in a whole new way as they try new layers of challenge in familiar activities, never-before-seen games, and plenty of opportunities to shape their ideal week of camp. This community will dive deep into the big questions of life as they continue to discover what it means to live in fellowship with one another. Reach new heights in Apex this summer!

Sponsorship Funds Needed!

Every year Camp Pagweak is able to welcome dozens of campers who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to experience camp thanks to the generosity of families, churches, and other organizations. This spring we have already receive 42 individual requests for financial assistance and we anticipate more as summer approaches.

In order to say 'yes' to these families experiencing financial hardship, we need your support. You can donate today by sending an e-transfer to [email protected] or by visiting our website. While the cost to send a kid to camp is $380, any amount can go a long way!

Another Spring Work Day in the books!

We want to say a big 'THANK YOU' to everyone who joined us on Saturday to help get our property ready for the upcoming camp season. We cleaned up some brush, repaired and stained decks, began painting one of our buildings, put together some new target easels for archery and so much more! We are so thankful to have such an incredible community who believe in the mission of Camp Pagweak and are willing to show up and put their gifts to use to help make it happen.

Our spring work day is happening TOMORROW! ☀

It looks like we'll have some great weather to get lots of work done in preparation for our summer 2026 campers who will be arriving in less than 50 days! Whether you're an expert in the trades or simply a willing set a hands, we have plenty for everyone to do. And don't worry about coffee, tea or lunch, we have you covered!

Program Spotlight: VOYAGER

Belonging to a meaningful community is one of the biggest contributors to developing a strong sense of self. We believe that at camp, campers not only belong to a community but are entirely immersed in it.

Voyager is all about letting campers refine their skills and sense of self as they return to activities of their choosing and embark on new adventures, like sea-kayaking. Campers will learn what it means to be a part of a community as they participate in cabin-life and grow in their understanding of themselves and others. Voyager campers are sure to be challenged in new ways in this new week-long overnight program.

The school semester is coming to a close, and what better way to celebrate the year than with a day retreat to camp!

Throughout the month of June we offer day-retreat experiences for schools, youth programs, and other community groups who are looking for a fun way to commemorate the year, reinforce community, and forge lifelong memories. We offer an array of activities such as archery, field games, and sea-kayaking and offer options to have lunch included with your trip! While each day retreat is tailored specifically to your individual group, rest assured that our amazing staff team will handle the planning and activities.

As we take time to celebrate mothers this weekend, consider giving the gift of camp!

We have 28 mothers and families who hope to send their kid(s) to camp but need additional help beyond our typical subsidy. By donating to our sponsorship fund, you'll give us the ability to welcome these kids for a faith-centered, fun, and formational experience like no other. While the cost of covering a campers full week at camp is $380, any donation goes a long way in helping.

There is lots to do to make sure we are ready for our summer 2026 campers, would you come lend us a hand?

Our annual Spring Workday will be taking place on location (9395 Hwy 6, Pugwash) on May 23rd! Whether you are an expert painter, have worked years in the trades, or are just a willing set of hands, there is something for everyone to do. Join us at 9am and stay till 3pm, or until you have to get going and don't worry, lunch is on us!

Program Spotlight: TRAILBLAZER

There is no other experience that is as formative as it is fun as a week of camp! At Camp Pagweak, campers discover themselves while being immersed in community, nature, and a variety of stretching experiences.

Trailblazer is our most flexible program yet! Designed to help campers start charting their own path while continuing to uncover their passions and gifts, there is a Trailblazer option for all levels of camp familiarity. Enjoy overnight and day-camp options in Trailblazer 1, or register for Trailblazer 2 to enjoy a more condensed camping experience! In Trailblazer, campers get to experience our classic level 1 activities while trying our activities like archery, biking, and slip & slide for the first time! What will your camper discover this summer?
