Evangel Kids

Evangel Kids We are the kids ministry of Evangel Church in Powell River. We love helping kids explore who Jesus is and who they are in Him. Join us on Sundays @ 10 am.

Here at Evangel we know that when the church and the family join together it can show a generation who God is more effectively than either could alone. This is where ORANGE comes in. ORANGE is a strategy. It’s what happens when you combine RED = the love of the family and YELLOW = the light of the Church, to partner together and make a greater impact and work together to show a new generation who

God is. We use the term PARTNER for a reason. It’s because we believe parents and the Church need each other. The church needs parents to be actively engaged with their kid’s spiritual growth, because they’re ultimately the biggest influencers of their own children. And parents need the local church because their kids need to learn about and experience God from a whole community of believers! A parents influence is best realized in partnership with the church
A church’s influence is best realized in partnership with parents

We need each other! And that is the heart behind everything that we do!

Take time today to pray as a family—talk and listen to God. Pray these four things:
1. Thank God for His love, which is kind, never ends, is patient, and is faithful.
2. Ask God to help you respond to His love by loving and following Him.
3. Pray for one another.
4. Choose one or two other people to pray for—that they would understand God’s great love and turn from sin to trust and follow Him.

Take time today to pray as a family—talk and listen to God. Pray these four things:

1. Thank God for His incomparable love, which is kind, never-ending, patient, and faithful.
2. Ask God to help you live in ways that show you trust and enjoy His love as you share His love with others.
3. Pray for one another.
4. Choose one or two other people to pray for—that they would experience God’s love through a relationship with Jesus.

This week, take 1 day to ask these 2 questions and spend 3 minutes talking about them:
- What are things in our lives that change over time?
- What do you know about God that never changes?

Take 1 day this week to highlight these 2 things and spend 3 minutes talking about them:
- Show your preschooler a picture or video of Earth.
- Say, “Our planet is always turning, which is what gives us day and night. We can trust that the earth will continue to turn every day. We can also trust that no matter what, God will love us because His love is faithful.”

Draw a star and circles on a paper. Place a coin on the star and assign two teams to each path. Take turns trying to roll a one with the dice. When you roll a one, you can move the coin one space toward your side. Play until one team gets the coin to the opposite edge. Talk about how you had to be patient and wait as the coin moved back and forth on the paper. We can know that God’s love is patient and that, as we wait for Jesus to return, we can know He is giving time for more people to know, love, and follow Him.

Create a fun and special snack for your preschooler including foods she loves. Set the snack in front of your child and say, “Let’s practice being patient. Do not eat until I say you can.” Use the waiting time to ask questions such as, “Why is it hard to wait for something we want? What can we do while we wait?” Finally, share that one day Jesus will return, and everyone who loves and follows Him will get to enjoy God’s love forever. While we wait, we can share the love of God with others so more people can know Him. That’s why God’s love is patient! Then, of course, enjoy the snack!

- What kinds of things happen that make you wonder, How long will things be like this?
- How can remembering that God’s love is patient help during those times?

Take 1 day this week to highlight these 2 things and spend 3 minutes talking about them:
- Invite your preschooler to observe cookies or other food right out of the oven.
- Ask, “Do we eat things when they are super-hot like this? We know that being patient and waiting will make this food even better. God’s love is patient. As we wait for Jesus to return, we can know God is giving people more time to love and follow Him.”

Second Peter 3:1-18 teaches us that God’s love is patient. The disciple Peter wrote to Christians who may have been wondering why Jesus had not yet returned, like He promised. Peter told them that each day we wait for the return of Jesus is a day that God works through us to help people know and follow Him. Kids learned that God’s love is patient because He gives time for people to turn to and trust Him. Each time you must wait this week (like at red lights or in line at the store), stop and pray for the people around you. Help your kids remember that God’s love is patient, and He gives time for more people to know and love Him.

Preschoolers enjoyed learning this week that God’s love is ... wait for it ... patient. The disciple Peter wrote to Christians who were wondering why it was taking so long for Jesus to return. In our Bible story, we learned that God’s love is patient. That means God is willing to wait for everyone to know Him before Jesus comes back. When you stop at a red light this week, take a moment to pray with your preschoolers for people who do not yet follow Jesus. Use these moments of waiting to remember that God’s love is patient.

“Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love—but the greatest of these is love.”
1 Corinthians 13:13
If you could describe the love of God, what words or phrases come to mind? The list goes on and on because God’s love is incredible and incomparable! When we pause and reflect on God’s love, we are reminded that is the best gift we could ever receive. We know He is the source of our strength, hope, and joy. Take time this week to thank God for His love—it truly is the greatest.
