It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Oakes, a valued member of our church family who will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Oakes family during this time.

This Sunday marked a deeply meaningful moment for Evangel Church as Pastor Lucas preached his final sermon as lead pastor through 2 Timothy 2:14–26.

In this powerful farewell message, we were reminded that the church is not called to win arguments, but to faithfully carry the truth of Christ with gentleness, holiness, and love.

“Hold tightly to truth while holding gently to people.”

Pastor Lucas challenged us to reject empty quarrels, pursue Christlikeness, and remain firmly grounded on the unchanging foundation of Jesus Christ, the Living Word.

Why are you here?

Seriously, what brought you into a room (or onto this video) centered around faith in a God you can’t see?

The world might call it foolish.
Paul said the same thing 2,000 years ago.

And because of that… there’s a real temptation we all face:

To be ashamed of the gospel.

But Paul, writing from prison, says:

👉 Don’t shrink back
👉 Don’t reshape the message
👉 Don’t let shame win

Instead—stand firm.

Faithfulness requires courage and a firm grip on truth.

This message is a reminder to stay bold, stay grounded, and stay faithful—no matter the cost.

Take a few minutes and lean in.

Paul is sitting in a prison cell… and he knows his life is almost over.

So what does he do?

He writes one final letter, not to a crowd, but to a person.
To Timothy. His spiritual son.

And his message is simple, but challenging:

Faith must be stirred up… not assumed.

In a world where it’s easy to drift, grow passive, or give in to fear, this is a call to wake up what God has already placed inside of you.

🔥 Rekindle your faith
🔥 Reject fear
🔥 Walk in power, love, and sound judgment

This is the beginning of our journey through 2 Timothy, and it starts with a challenge we can’t ignore.

Take a few minutes and lean in.

Make us to know Your ways Jesus.
