St. John the Apostle (Port Moody)

St. John the Apostle (Port Moody) St. Welcome to St. John the Apostle! We are physically located in Port Moody, BC, and we have been a part of the community for over 109 years.

John the Apostle Anglican Church, Diocese of New Westminster, Anglican Church of Canada...

CALLED to be a Spirited Community at the heart of Port Moody, TRANSFORMED through the experience of the presence of Christ, and SENT out to share God's Love. We currently offer 2 Sunday services of Holy Eucharist - in-person at 8:30am and hybrid (in-person and Zoom) at 10am (http://www.stja.ca/2022/program-

updates/ for more info).

8:30am is a smaller, Quiet Service with no music. 10:00am is a larger Family Service, with music and (usually) on the last Sunday of each month a children's program. We gather weekly on Sundays for worship and throughout the week, discussing life's journey and how we can use our gifts in ministry in the church and in the world. We also acknowledge with gratitude and humility that St. John’s is located on land that is traditional territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. We are grateful for the heritage of the Tsleil-Waututh, Squamish, Kwikwetlem and Musqueam Nations, and along with others in the Diocese of New Westminster, we continue to search and pray with Indigenous brothers, sisters, and friends for truth, justice and reconciliation.

We were honoured to have a talented young man play the cello for us at the 10:00 a.m. service. His beautiful music greatly enriched our worship.

Adrian has just graduated high school from West Point Grey Academy. He has been studying the cello for 14 years at the Vancouver Academy of Music (VAM), and serves as the VAM Symphony Orchestra Principal Cellist. He has won numerous awards, including receiving Gold and Silver at the VAM Performance Exams, the Clive Austin Solo Music Competition, and 4th place in the Kay Meek Competition. He plans to continue his education at Imperial College London in the fall to study civil engineering.

Potluck lunch following the Trinity Sunday service as we celebrate and give thanks for the ministry of Rev. Dr. Angus Stuart during his time with us.
Over the past four months, Angus has faithfully supported our rector Vivian in her ministry and has been a valued part of St.John's.
(There was a lot of food which we did not capture.)

A few snaps from today's Diocesan Mission Conference (theme: "Moving in Mission, Guided by Spirit"). Inspiring keynotes from Bishop Michael Curry and our Archbishop John, and interesting workshops about Christianity on the West Coast and embracing the Indigenous Reconciliation journey. The Spirit is alive and moving mightily in the Diocese of New Westminster!
